2010 Lexus GS Overview

While the 2010 Lexus GS isn’t the sportiest car on the market, it has a comfortable ride and decent handling. A V6 comes in the GS 350, while the GS 460 features a more powerful V8 engine. Reviewers said both were plenty powerful. The rear-wheel drive GS 350 gets 19/26 mpg city/highway, which is better than most cars in the class. Fuel economy is slightly less if you opt for all-wheel drive or the more powerful GS 460. When it was new, test drivers thought that the GS had good performance without sacrificing much fuel economy. There is a 2010 GS Hybrid that gets slightly better fuel economy for those environmentally-conscious shoppers.

The GS doesn’t have the sporty performance of some rivals, but auto critics thought that it provided a smooth ride. The auto press was split on the GS’ handling capabilities. Some felt that the GS handled well with little body lean, but others found that it wasn’t as athletic or fun-to-drive as rivals.

Inside, the GS was recognized by most reviewers for its high-quality cabin and luxury features. They felt the seats are comfortable, though some were disappointed with the lack of legroom for taller drivers. Trunk space is also well below-average.

The GS 350 comes standard with a sunroof, push-button start, leather, dual-zone climate control, power front seats, Bluetooth and a stereo with satellite radio and a USB port. A backup camera, navigation, an upgraded stereo, adaptive cruise control and heated and ventilated front seats were available features when the GS was new.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2010 Acura RL offers excellent cabin electronics and carries outstanding safety scores. The GS does get better fuel economy, but this is without all-wheel drive, which comes standard on the RL.

If you’re looking for an athletic performer with a comfortable interior, consider the 2010 BMW 5-Series. The 5-Series provides an exciting driving experience that the GS simply can’t match. Also, the 5-Series is available with a manual transmission for the driving enthusiast.
