Buying Advice

Last Updated: June 7, 2019

Strong Sales: The Lexus ES is currently the top selling luxury midsize car, outpacing both the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class by over 10 percent. Lexus dealerships have sold 20.4 percent more ES models to date this year compared to the same period in 2018.

Low Pricing: The Lexus ES has one of the lowest base prices in the class. Starting at just $39,600, it’s about $7,000 below the class average for base trims. Even a top-trim Lexus ES F Sport ($44,135) costs less than the class average for base prices. Though there are a few options that cost even less (like the Acura TLX or Lincoln MKZ), they rank far below the ES.

Time to Buy: Although demand is strong, the ES’s low pricing makes it an appealing choice for bargain hunters in the luxury car market. Furthermore, it earned the 2019 Best Luxury Midsize Car for the Money award, so you can feel confident that you’re getting a good value. If you want to save even more, consider the mechanically identical Toyota Avalon or an outgoing 2018 model ES. When similarly equipped, the Avalon is priced about $4,000 less than the ES.
