2012 Lexus CT Hybrid Overview

The 2012 Lexus CT 200h is powered by a four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, which are paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Test drivers reported that the 2012 CT 200h accelerates slowly, and some noted that transitions between gas and electric power could be smoother. Still, at 43/40 mpg city/highway, the 2012 CT Hybrid earns outstanding fuel economy ratings for an upscale small car. Some critics were pleased with the CT 200h’s sporty handling, but were disappointed with its numb steering and grabby regenerative brakes. Additionally, a few reviewers said that the CT 200h’s ride is a little firm, and that even small bumps in the road could be felt inside the cabin.

Some reviewers said that the 2012 Lexus CT 200h’s interior lacks the high-quality materials that are common in other Lexus vehicles. They noted that the front seats offer adequate space, though there isn’t a lot of rear-seat legroom. With 14.3 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats, the CT Hybrid’s cargo area is small for a hatchback, but larger than the cargo areas in many small upscale sedans. Standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery, push-button start, proximity key, Bluetooth, a USB port and a six-speaker audio system. Available features include leather upholstery, adaptive cruise control, a rearview camera and navigation.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2012 Audi A3 TDI gets good fuel economy for the class, and critics said it has plenty of power from a stop. The A3 also has more cargo space than the CT Hybrid, and reviewers appreciated its high-quality cabin materials.

The 2012 Nissan Leaf comes standard with features like leather upholstery and navigation, and test drivers wrote that the all-electric Leaf has smooth regenerative brakes and stronger off-the-line acceleration than many gas-powered small cars. The Leaf offers similar cargo space behind the rear seats, and reviewers liked its roomy front seats.
