2010 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Overview

If you want a luxurious SUV that can conquer remote trails, looks good around town and cradles passengers in luxury, the 2010 Land Rover Range Rover Sport might be just what you're looking for. The Range Rover Sport is a ruggedly-capable off-road SUV that's also able to provide car-like performance on paved roads, and features a cabin that wouldn't seem out of place in a much more expensive super luxury car because of its fantastic build quality and upscale features. In fact, when it was new, Car and Driver wrote, “The Sport’s cabin is perhaps its best and most unique feature; it’s on the same level as an Aston Martin or Rolls-Royce interior.” Standard features include a 14-speaker Harman/Kardon stereo system, a sunroof, rain-sensing front windshield wipers and leather upholstery. Higher trims offer push-button start, touch-screen navigation and a heated windshield.

Despite its positive attributes, the 2010 Range Rover Sport's fuel economy is terrible, starting at just 13/18 mpg city/highway. Additionally, its sloping roofline may cut into headroom for taller passengers. In short, this is not the most thrifty or practical choice in its class. However, if you crave the legendary off-road prowess that Land Rover is known for, the 2010 Land Rover Range Rover Sport may be a good choice – as long as you can afford to keep it on the road.

Other Cars to Consider

If you can sacrifice some off-road capability, you should also consider the 2010 Porsche Cayenne. Test drivers raved about the Cayenne’s gorgeous interior, and many hailed the Cayenne as one of the best-driving SUVs on the road. The Cayenne also, depending on trim, gets better gas mileage than the Range Rover Sport.

The 2010 Lexus GX offers better fuel economy ratings than the Range Rover Sport, without sacrificing interior quality or off-road ability. The GX’s on-road ride isn’t as good as the Range Rover Sport’s, but its cabin is beautifully-made and its navigation system is easy to use. In combination with its available third row, its gas mileage may make the GX a better choice than the Range Rover Sport.
