The Range Rover Evoque ranks poorly in the luxury subcompact SUV class. It boasts a richly appointed cabin, but it's plagued by cramped rear seats, a firm ride, and a low reliability rating.
The 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque's #4 ranking is based on its score within the 2015 Luxury Subcompact SUVs category. Currently the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque has a score of 7.2 out of 10, which is based on our evaluation of 38 pieces of research and data elements using various sources.
The Range Rover Evoque is not a very good luxury subcompact SUV. Its few merits are overshadowed by its cramped back seat, poor reliability rating, and jittery ride over uneven pavement. Before you buy, consider higher-ranked SUVs in this segment, like the 2015 BMW X1 and 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA.

There are a number of new SUVs that cost less than a used 2015 Evoque, but none come from a luxury brand. Starting at $28,045, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler offers far superior off-road abilities. The 2019 Mini Cooper Countryman starts at $26,900, and this little SUV is fun to drive, delivering a better on-road ride than the Range Rover Evoque. The 2019 Mazda CX-5 ($24,350) has a roomier interior, top-notch cabin materials, and sporty handling.

Land Rover introduced the Evoque as a new SUV for the 2012 model year, and it has received only minor updates over these years. You can save money with an older model that still offers similar features and performance as a new model, though there are some exceptions. Opt for a 2014-and-newer model if you want active safety features; the earlier 2012 and 2013 models were not available with forward collision warning or adaptive cruise control. If you want an Evoque convertible, narrow your search to models from 2017 and later.

The 2015 Evoque SUV is available in three- and five-door body styles, as well as five trim levels: Pure, Pure Plus, Pure Premium, Prestige, and Dynamic.
The base model should have enough standard features for most buyers. The Evoque Pure has a 240-horsepower engine, all-wheel drive (AWD), an 8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, two USB ports, a satellite radio, a CD player, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, remote keyless entry, cruise control, a rearview camera, parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and alloy wheels.
Available in three- or five-door styles, the Evoque Pure Plus trim builds on the base trim with a power tailgate, fog lights, and a panoramic sunroof. The three- or five-door Pure Premium trim adds proximity keyless entry, navigation, a 360-degree view camera, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive headlights. The Prestige trim gives you heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and parallel park assist. The range-topping Evoque Dynamic trim (three- or five-door) adds a sport exhaust and an electronically adaptive suspension.

Land Rover offers a certified pre-owned program for vehicles five years old or less and with fewer than 60,000 miles. Eligibility is determined by the vehicle’s initial sale date. Land Rover extends its original new-car warranty to seven years from the original sale date or 100,000 miles for certified pre-owned vehicles. Every CPO Land Rover must pass a 165-point inspection. Additional benefits like towing, roadside assistance, and trip interruption benefits may be available, so read the Land Rover warranty page carefully.
Land Rover has one of the best CPO programs in the industry, according to our analysis. Only Tesla and Lexus have more robust programs.
Neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has crash tested the 2015 Range Rover Evoque.
The Evoque comes standard with a rearview camera and parking sensors. Available safety features include a 360-degree view camera, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive pivoting headlights, traffic sign recognition, parallel park assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning with brake assist, and adaptive cruise control.

The 2015 BMW X1 is the better choice, as long as you aren’t looking to go off-road. The BMW has an easier-to-use infotainment system, better fuel economy (up to 23/33 mpg), and a range of zestier turbo engines. The X1 also rates higher for reliability, and used models are often less expensive to buy and maintain. Go with the BMW.
The 2015 Audi Q3 isn’t perfect, but it's a better option for most shoppers than the Rover. The Audi has a great reliability rating, and used models are typically less expensive to buy. Both SUVs have a rather firm ride quality, though, and their infotainment systems can be tricky to use.

The Evoque has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 240 horsepower. A nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are also standard. The turbo-four engine feels peppy and scoots the Range Rover around town with confidence. It delivers adequate passing power on the highway, but it doesn’t feel or sound particularly refined. It tends to vibrate at idle and groan under hard acceleration.
The Evoque is one of the sportier SUVs in its class. It feels stable around corners, the steering is quick and responsive, and the brakes offer good stopping power. However, the ride is jittery across rough pavement, which can make for an uncomfortable ride at lower speeds.
This Land Rover has a high 8.4-inches of ground clearance, and it comes standard with the Terrain Response system (traction control modes for rock, mud, snow, and sand). The Evoque can certainly handle the occasional off-road trip, but it’s better suited for on-road driving. The larger Range Rover and Range Rover Sport are more capable options for off-roading.
The Evoque returns an EPA-estimated 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, which is decent by class standards.
When properly equipped, the Evoque is rated to tow up to 3,500 pounds.

The five-seat Evoque is available in three-door (coupe) and five-door body styles. The front seats are comfortable, and they provide fine support on long drives. There’s ample seating space up front as well, even for tall passengers. The rear seats are cramped, though, and they can be awkward to access in coupe models. Rear visibility is also an issue due to the vehicle’s slim windows and low roofline.
The Evoque’s interior may have its compromises, but material quality isn’t one of them. The cabin has a premium look and feel, and it’s trimmed with soft-touch plastics, padded surfaces, and sleek metal accents. Leather upholstery comes standard; heated and ventilated seats are available.
There are two full sets of LATCH connectors for securing child car seats in the Range Rover Evoque.
The Evoque's standard InControl infotainment system comes with an 8-inch touch screen, a rearview camera, USB ports, Bluetooth, a satellite radio, a CD player, and 11 speakers. Available tech features include a navigation system and a 17-speaker stereo. There are multiple buttons and knobs for adjusting the audio and air conditioning controls, and these are easy to find thanks to the SUV’s uncluttered dashboard. The InControl system also has a user-friendly layout, but the touch screen tends to respond slowly to inputs.
