2014 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Overview

Is the 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque a Good Used Car?

Available as a four-door SUV or two-door coupe, the 2014 Range Rover Evoque is difficult to recommend because of its low reliability rating. If you can look beyond that, the Evoque has some positive aspects, such as brisk acceleration, a firm yet comfortable ride, and a nicely equipped interior. However, rivals like the BMW X1 have better reliability ratings and lower ownership costs.

Used 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Performance and Interior

A 240-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine powers the 2014 Range Rover Evoque. Acceleration is quick, and climbing up to highway speeds is easy. The standard nine-speed automatic transmission helps the Evoque return 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, which is good for the class. The Evoque has nimble handling and a firm, comfortable ride. It doesn’t have the rugged off-road capabilities of some of its Land Rover siblings, but its all-wheel-drive system with All-Terrain can conquer mild off-road challenges like fording shallow streams or handling muddy inclines.

The Range Rover Evoque is known for its first-rate interior material quality and attractive cabin design. The Evoque is available as both a four-door SUV and two-door coupe SUV. Both have seating for five on partial-leather seats. The Evoque coupe has an available two-seat second row. Power-adjustable front seats are standard. Upgraded leather upholstery as well as heated front and rear seats are available. The front seats are comfortable, but the rear seats feel confined because of the Evoque’s sloping roof. The Evoque’s outward visibility is hampered by narrow windows. The Evoque has complete LATCH car-seat connections in the rear outward seats, and there’s a middle-seat tether.

Standard equipment in the Range Rover Evoque includes automatic climate control, two USB ports, an 8-inch touch-screen infotainment display, and Bluetooth. Available features consist of keyless entry, navigation, a 17-speaker audio system, satellite radio, a panoramic sunroof, and HD radio.

Both versions of the Range Rover Evoque have subpar cargo space for the class. The four-door has 20.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 51 with them folded. The two-door has 19.4 cubic feet with the rear seats up and 47.6 with the rear row folded.

Should I Consider Another Used Range Rover Evoque?

The 2014 Range Rover Evoque is part of the SUV’s first generation, which launched for the 2012 model year. You might save money on a 2013 Range Rover Evoque, but it won’t have the 2014 model’s standard nine-speed automatic transmission, which makes the Evoque more fuel efficient than the 2013 model.

Which Used Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Is Right for Me?

The 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is available as a two-door or four-door SUV. The two-door model has the following trim levels: Pure Plus, Pure Premium, and Dynamic. The four-door model adds the Pure and Prestige levels.

The Pure level is well equipped with standard features like an 8-inch touch screen, a rearview camera, interior mood lighting, and an eight-way power driver’s seat. Pure Plus adds fog lamps and a power tailgate. The Prestige trim adds a heated windshield, automatic Xenon headlights, cooled front seats, heated rear seats, parallel park assist, and a 17-speaker audio system. The Dynamic trim has unique visual upgrades (bumpers, sills, grille, tailpipes, and 20-inch wheels), heated front and rear seats, illuminated tread plates, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with controls. The Prestige trim is the best choice, with luxury touches like cooled seats and an upgraded audio system.

The Range Rover Evoque has the worst reliability score possible. As such, you might want to consider a certified pre-owned model. Land Rover extends its original new-car warranty to seven years or 100,000 miles for certified pre-owned vehicles. Every CPO Land Rover must pass a 165-point inspection. Additional benefits like towing and roadside assistance may be available, so read the Land Rover warranty page carefully.

2014 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque and Other SUVs to Consider

Which Is Better: 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque or 2014 BMW X3?

The 2014 BMW X3 and the Range Rover Evoque have similar ownership costs, but the BMW is a larger vehicle overall. The X3 has similar passenger space as the Evoque but more room for cargo room. While the Range Rover Evoque’s four-wheel-drive system makes mild off-roading easy, the BMW’s all-wheel drive is not as rugged. The X3 has an above-average reliability rating, besting the Evoque’s ultra-low rating.

Which Is Better: 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque or 2014 Audi Q5?

The 2014 Audi Q5, a luxury compact SUV, has a standard four-cylinder engine that is less powerful than the Evoque’s. Still, the Audi has fun on-road driving dynamics and a variety of engine choices, including a fuel-efficient turbodiesel, a hybrid, and a 354-horsepower, supercharged V6. The Q5 has a slightly higher cost of ownership. Despite that, the Audi’s roomier rear seats, larger cargo area, and higher reliability rating make it the better choice.
