The 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Reviewers thought the 2012 Evoque has fairly brisk acceleration, though some noted that the transmission can be slow to respond. The Range Rover Evoque gets an estimated 18/28 mpg city/highway, which is excellent for the class. Reviewers wrote that the Range Rover Evoque has agile handling and feels well-controlled in turns, with  sharp steering and strong brakes. The 2012 Evoque comes standard with all-wheel drive and Land Rover's Terrain Response system, which allows the driver to select drive modes for different types of terrain. Reviewers agreed that the Evoque has excellent off-road capability for the class and added that its ride is soft and compliant on pavement.

Reviewers said the 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque has an attractive cabin and superb materials quality. The Evoque is available in either a two- or four-door variant. Test drivers said both models have comfortable and supportive front seats and added that the rear seats offer sufficient space for two passengers, but some had difficulty accessing the rear seats in the two-door model. Reviewers were taken with the uniqueness of the rotary gear shift that rises from the center console. Standard features on the 2012 Range Rover Evoque include a power liftgate, push-button start, Bluetooth, an 8-inch touch screen, two USB ports, a rearview camera and a panoramic sunroof. Navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system, satellite radio, HD Radio, a 360-degree camera system, parallel park assist, blind spot monitoring and a 17-speaker Meridian audio system are available. With a maximum of 47.6 cubic feet of cargo capacity in the two-door model and 51 cubic feet in the four-door model, the 2012 Evoque has little cargo space for the class.

Other SUVs to Consider

Reviewers said the 2012 Infiniti EX's swift acceleration and nimble handling make it one of the most fun SUVs to drive in the class. It also available with a 360-degree camera system that reviewers found helpful when maneuvering in tight spaces.

The 2012 BMW X3 has more cargo space than the Range Rover Evoque and reviewers said it has roomy seats for all passengers. Additionally, the X3 comes standard with all-wheel drive and test drivers reported it has a good balance of ride comfort and poised handling.
