2015 Land Rover LR4 Overview

Is the 2015 Land Rover LR4 a Good Used SUV?

A sluggish engine and a poorly performing infotainment system make the LR4 difficult to live with. It has a high average price for the class and above-average predicted ownership costs. However, it’s one of the few luxury SUVs that can tackle any type of terrain.

What Does Land Rover's Certified Pre-Owned Warranty Cover?

Land Rover offers a certified pre-owned program for vehicles five years old or less and with fewer than 60,000 miles. Eligibility is determined by the vehicle’s initial sale date. Land Rover extends its original new-car warranty to seven years from the original sale date or 100,000 miles for certified pre-owned vehicles. Every CPO Land Rover must pass a 165-point inspection. Additional benefits like towing, roadside assistance, and trip interruption benefits may be available, so read the Land Rover warranty page carefully.

Land Rover has one of the best CPO programs in the industry, according to our analysis. Only Tesla and Lexus have more robust programs.

2015 Land Rover LR4 Versus the Competition

Which Is Better: 2015 Land Rover LR4 or 2015 Land Rover Range Rover?

The 2015 Land Rover Range Rover delivers terrific on-road performance, with an available V8 engine that provides a robust driving experience. The Range Rover handles with athleticism on paved roads, while retaining the off-road fortitude that Land Rovers are known for. Both models have below-average reliability ratings and underwhelming infotainment systems, but they boast elegant interiors. Choosing between these vehicles largely depends on your budget. The Range Rover's average price is about double that of the LR4.

Which Is Better: 2015 Land Rover LR4 or 2015 BMW X5?

The 2015 BMW X5 is a much better luxury midsize SUV than the Land Rover LR4. Although the X5 can't match the LR4's off-road chops, it has a lineup of powerful turbocharged engines that deliver plenty of muscle. You'll also get agile handling that makes for a sporty driving experience. Both vehicles offer luxurious interiors and lots of high-tech features. The X5 gets a slightly better reliability rating than the LR4. Unless you do a lot of off-road driving, the X5 is a much better choice than the LR4.

2015 LR4 Performance

How Does the 2015 Land Rover LR4 Drive?

On pavement, the 2015 Land Rover LR4 has respectable handling and precise steering. A standard adjustable air suspension ensures a soft, supple ride over bumps in the road. This is not normally the case for a rugged body-on-frame SUV. It’s no surprise that a Land Rover vehicle would be a capable off-roader. The LR4 comes standard with the Terrain Response system and either a single-speed or two-speed transfer case.

The LR4 is powered by a supercharged V6 engine that makes 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive are standard. While the engine delivers a good amount of muscle, it can feel underpowered when the SUV is packed with people or cargo. The transmission makes the most of the engine’s output and allows you to accelerate with ease from a stop or when getting up to highway speeds.

Does the 2015 Land Rover LR4 Get Good Gas Mileage?

A downside of the LR4’s powertrain is poor fuel efficiency. Its estimates of just 15 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway are among the lowest ratings in the class.

2015 Land Rover LR4 Towing Capacity

When properly equipped, the Land Rover LR4 can tow up to 7,716 pounds.
