2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport Versus the Competition

Which Is Better: 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport or 2015 Range Rover Evoque?

The Range Rover Evoque is a luxury subcompact SUV with good off-roading ability and respectable fuel efficiency. However, the Discovery Sport is a better option for most shoppers. It has a slightly higher reliability rating, additional cargo and passenger space, and an available third row of seats.

Which Is Better: 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport or 2015 BMW X3?

The BMW X3 outmatches the Discovery Sport on most fronts. The Bimmer has a stronger and more fuel-efficient engine lineup, as well as a smoother-shifting transmission. The X3 also boasts an above-average reliability rating and about as much passenger and cargo space as the Discovery Sport. That said, the Discovery Sport can seat up to seven people with available third-row seating, while the X3 can only seat up to five people. Off-road capability is the only area that this Land Rover stands out compared to the BMW. Unless that is a high priority, go with the X3.

How Does the 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport Drive?

The 2015 Discovery Sport is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 240 horsepower. It has a good amount of power, but there's some initial hesitation when accelerating, also referred to as turbo lag. To make matters worse, the standard nine-speed automatic transmission can be indecisive at times, and it's slow to shift.

While it has a comfortable ride and responsive steering, this Land Rover truly excels when you take it off the beaten path. It comes standard with four-wheel drive and a Terrain Response system that has four driving modes: rock, sand, mud and ruts, and snow.

Does the 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport Get Good Gas Mileage?

The Discovery Sport delivers 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which is about average for the class.
