Which Used Kia Sorento Trim Is Right for Me?

The 2019 Kia Sorento comes in six trims: L, LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Limited. There aren't any bad options in the lineup, but many buyers may want to step up to at least the Sorento S trim. The S is the lowest trim to come standard with the more potent V6 engine, and it also includes some enticing comfort features, such as heated front seats.

The 2019 Sorento is available with all-wheel drive in every trim except the base L. Although the L trim doesn’t offer any option packages, most of the higher trims do, so you may find models equipped with comfort, infotainment, or driver assistance features beyond what we list below.

  • Kia Sorento L: The Sorento L comes with a 185-horsepower four-cylinder engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. Standard features include the UVO infotainment system, a 7-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, a USB port, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a six-speaker audio system, and a rearview camera.
  • Kia Sorento LX: In addition to the L trim's features, the Sorento LX comes with two additional USB ports, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert.
  • Kia Sorento S: The Sorento S features a 290-horsepower V6 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. It gains a power-adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, satellite radio, and rear parking sensors.
  • Kia Sorento EX: The Sorento EX adds leather upholstery, push-button start, a hands-free power liftgate, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and driver drowsiness monitoring.
  • Kia Sorento SX: The Sorento SX comes standard with a power-adjustable front passenger seat, a panoramic sunroof, a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, wireless device charging, front parking sensors, and an upgraded UVO infotainment system with an 8-inch touch screen and navigation.
  • Kia Sorento SX Limited: The Sorento SX Limited is the highest trim, and it comes with pretty much every feature you can get in the Sorento, including ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, and a surround-view parking camera system.

2019 Kia Sorento Versus the Competition

Which Is Better: 2019 Kia Sorento or 2019 Toyota Highlander?

The 2019 Toyota Highlander joins the Sorento near the top of our midsize SUV rankings, and it's tough to say one is better than the other. The Highlander is available with either a four-cylinder or a V6 engine, its cabin is well-built, and it rides smoothly. Of course, the Sorento has all of the same things going for it.

The Toyota provides more cargo space and comes standard with many driver assistance features that are optional in the Sorento. Meanwhile, the Kia gets better gas mileage with its base engine and comes standard with smartphone tech like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which aren't available in the Highlander.

Which Is Better: 2019 Kia Sorento or 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe?

The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe may edge the Sorento out by a hair, but these are both good SUVs. The Santa Fe is available with two or three rows of seats, and its features list is similar to that of the Sorento. Like the Kia, the Hyundai offers multiple engine options, and both vehicles have well-built interiors. However, the three-row Santa Fe has a bit more cargo space than the Sorento, and the two-row version comes standard with many more active safety features.
