2012 Kia Sedona Review

Critics said the 2012 Kia Sedona handles well and has a powerful standard V6, but they thought that some of its interior materials could have been nicer.

Pros & Cons

  • Nimble handling for a minivan
  • Cheap interior materials
  • Low safety score for the class

2012 Kia Sedona Overview

Reviewers agreed that the 2012 Sedona’s standard V6 engine delivers plenty of power for driving around town. The Sedona gets an EPA-estimated 18/25 mpg city/highway, which is on-par for the class. Test drivers wrote that the Kia Sedona’s handling made them feel confident on curvy roads, and some said it handles as well as class leaders like the Honda Odyssey. They also appreciated its communicative steering and its smooth ride on rough pavement.

Automotive journalists said the 2012 Kia Sedona has a simple interior design, and critics said that some plastic trim could have been nicer. Critics thought the first- and second-row seats are comfortable for adults on long trips, but said the third-row seats only work for adults if the trips are kept short. Standard features include a USB input, Bluetooth and rear parking sensors. Available features include a sunroof, power-sliding doors, a power liftgate, a rear-seat entertainment system, navigation, leather upholstery and power-adjustable, heated front seats.

Other Minivans to Consider

Test drivers agreed that the 2012 Honda Odyssey is one of the best-handling minivans on the market, and its top-notch interior materials impressed them as well. It has an excellent safety score, and more available features than the Sedona, including blind spot monitoring and a refrigerated storage bin.

Reviewers said the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country has an attractive interior constructed from premium materials. The Town & Country also comes standard with features that were optional in the Sedona, such as leather upholstery and a rear-seat entertainment system.
