2011 Kia Sedona Overview

For the 2011 model year, the Kia Sedona received some minor tweaks to the exterior and a new, more-powerful engine to help it compete with other minivans that were completely redesigned. The 2011 Sedona has a 3.5-liter V6 that improved the van’s gas mileage. Though reviewers preferred other 2011 minivans for their better interior quality and handling, the Sedona’s mix of practicality and value won it our 2011 Best Minivan for the Money award.

When the Sedona was new, reviewers liked its engine performance, but disliked the exterior styling and cheap-feeling interior. Reviewers also felt that the third row was only comfortable for kids. The Sedona’s cargo space is average for the class. The Sedona received good ratings in crash tests, but other minivans received higher scores.

The 2011 Kia Sedona comes with an impressive number of standard features, including satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo with a USB port, Bluetooth and rear parking sensors. Optional features when it was new include a back-seat DVD entertainment system, navigation, dual power-sliding doors and tri-zone air conditioning.

Other Cars to Consider

Reviewers felt that the 2010 Honda Odyssey offered better handling and interior quality than the Sedona in a more stylish package. Because the Odyssey is generally a more expensive minivan, finding a 2010 or earlier model may put it within reach of the Sedona’s price.

The 2011 Toyota Sienna was praised by reviewers for its good performance and family-friendly features. However, its safety scores aren’t quite as good as the Sedona’s or Odyssey’s. The Sedona offers a more powerful engine, but you’ll sacrifice fuel economy when compared with the Sienna.
