2009 Kia Sedona Interior Review

Note: This interior review was created when the 2009 Kia Sedona was new.

Interior: 7.8

While reviewers find the Sedona's seating area to be comfortable, they don't find it especially stylish or upscale. However, comfort is probably more important than style in a vehicle that can hold seven people, and some reviewers believe that at least six of those will fit nicely -- seven if the back row if used to carry children.

  • "Shortcomings consist of a gauge cluster that's unexciting, a center control panel that's uninspired and available wood-look trim that's reminiscent of wood-paneled wagons and dens from the Brady Bunch era." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "The Sedona's cabin is short on soft-touch surfaces and long on nondescript plastics, but the materials are mostly in line with the price." -- Consumer Guide
  • "The interior didn't look downscale." -- MSN

The Kia Sedona seats seven in three rows, with seats for two in each of the first two rows and room for two adults or three children in back. Reviewers find the first two rows more than acceptable for adult passengers, but most feel that the third row is only comfortable for kids.

  • "The Sedona's seven-passenger layout consists of two second-row, removable, reclining captain's chairs and a one-touch fold-and-flip function that allows for easy access to a three-passenger third-row." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "The third-row seat is still best left to little kids due to a low cushion and tight headroom." -- Edmunds

Interior Features

The 2009 Kia Sedona comes with an impressive number of standard features, which include tri-zone climate controls, power front windows, power door locks, an AM/FM/CD audio system, keyless entry, cruise control and a front-row extendable side table with cupholders.

  • "The up-front collection of knobs and buttons isn't as attractive as some of its competitors." --Kelley Blue Book
  • "The dashboard is well-arranged, with a center stack area where buttons and knobs are large and Lexus-like." --MSN

Reviews are generally positive about the cargo space in the 2009 Kia Sedona. Even with the third row up, reviewers like the recessed cargo area in the rear. With the third row folded and the second row captain's chairs out of the way, there is 141.5 cubic feet of cargo space available in the LX and EX, and 121.3 cubic feet in the base model.

  • "The vehicle is utterly lousy with beverage holders. If you find yourself ferrying a lot of lapsed alcoholics, this is your minivan." -- Los Angeles Times
  • "Maximum cargo, although a few cubic feet short of the class leaders, is still generous, and plenty of cubbies abound for quick stowage of things like cell phones, purses and snacks." -- Edmunds
