2010 Kia Rondo Overview

The 2010 Kia Rondo has a base four-cylinder engine, which reviewers noted has enough power for city driving. However, they also said that the Rondo could use more power on the highway, and that its four-speed automatic transmission seems a little outdated. The base engine gets 22 mpg combined, which is typical for the class. The available six-cylinder gets 21 mpg combined, and is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission that reviewers preferred. The six-cylinder also hauls cargo and passengers more easily, according to reviewers. The Kia Rondo was built on the same platform as the Kia Optima, which may have something to do with the smooth handling that test drivers reported.

Reviewers said that the Rondo’s interior is simple, but roomy. For 2010, Kia added a third-row seat as standard equipment. One reviewer said that the third row has enough head- and legroom to accommodate two adults. According to some reviewers, the Rondo is a good alternative for small families who don’t need the cargo space that comes with a minivan. The Rondo has 31.7 cubic feet of cargo space with the third row folded, which can be further expanded by folding the second row. Reviewers agreed that standard features on the wagon, like satellite radio, a CD player and an auxiliary jack, were basic. A fully-loaded Rondo can have features like heated exterior mirrors, a back-up camera, a CD changer, a premium sound system, heated seats, a navigation system and integrated roof rails.

Other Cars to Consider

Many reviewers compared the 2010 Mazda Mazda5 to the Rondo because both vehicles have an unusual size and passenger capacity. The Mazda5 was categorized as a minivan because of its sliding doors, but it's similar to the Rondo in terms of size and features. The Mazda5 with an automatic transmission gets 23 combined mpg, which is slightly better than the Rondo.

A 2010 Toyota Venza is a midsize SUV that seats five and has car-like performance, according to reviewers. The Venza has comparable cargo space behind the second row and has more standard features than the Rondo, including Bluetooth and a USB port.
