2019 Kia K900 Interior Review

Interior: 8.7

Reviewers disagree over the Kia K900 luxury sedan’s interior. Some say it’s well-appointed, while others knock it for its use of painted plastics and for failing to keep road noise at bay. Head- and legroom are good in both rows, and the infotainment system is easy to use. Its trunk is smaller than most.

  • "The interior of the new K900 is, indeed, luxurious, from the corduroyed real wood grain inserts on the dash to the reclining rear seats worthy of any owner of a string of bowling alleys." -- Autoweek
  • "Because Kia offers it as a luxury alternative, I'll start in the K900's well-appointed cabin, which shows some serious fit-and-finish game. And not just in the rich leather, contrast-color stitching, and real wood and brushed metal trim. The gaps between parts are far more consistent and tight than in any other Kia before it, and better than many American luxury cars." -- New York Daily News
  • "At a glance, the cabin's materials appear rich. But in person, the impression quickly fades upon closer scrutiny. Many of the metal bits are painted plastic, and the wood trim has been processed to the point of appearing more like plastic." -- Edmunds

The K900 seats five people on standard Nappa leather upholstery. The front seats are heated, ventilated, and power adjustable. Heated rear seats and a heated, wood-and-leather-wrapped steering wheel are also standard. Ventilated and power-adjustable rear seats are available.

This Kia’s interior draws mixed reviews. Space is excellent in both rows, with rear-seat legroom rivaling some super luxury cars. The seat’s power adjustability helps make them comfortable. However, some reviewers note that some harsh wind and road noises permeates the cabin.

For installing child safety seats, there are two full sets of LATCH connectors on the rear outboard seats.

  • "Rear passengers of either K900 model will enjoy an enormous amount of legroom nearly on par with the flagship full-size sedans such as the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class." -- Autoblog
  • "The rear seats are comfortable fauteuils, adjustable up to 14 ways. Certain interior elements seem to have been designed using the compare-and-share method, but you won’t soon find us complaining when a car emulates the Mercedes-Benz E-class." -- Car and Driver
  • "Likewise, the new K900 lacks the eminently silent disposition of the car it replaces. Though only based on our impressions, there seems to be more road noise, and the engine pipes up prominently when given the spurs." -- Edmunds

Interior Features

Kia offers the K900 in a single, well-equipped trim. Every K900 comes with proximity keyless entry, push-button start, tri-zone automatic climate control, a head-up display, and a wireless device charger. The standard UVO infotainment system features a 12.3-inch touch screen, two USB ports, Bluetooth, a 17-speaker Lexicon premium sound system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The standard UVO luxe feature lets you remotely start your car’s engine or climate controls with your smartphone.

Several safety features come standard, including a surround-view parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, a driver attention monitor, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane following (or centering) assist, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert. Kia’s blind spot monitoring includes a feature where using the turn signal displays an image of the blind spots on either side of the car in the instrument cluster. There are also sensors that notify you of a vehicle approaching the side of the car as you open the doors.

An optional 12.3-inch LCD display replaces the instrument cluster gauges, and a rear-seat wireless device charger is also available.

Unlike some rivals, Kia’s UVO infotainment system is easy to use. The graphics are crisp, and the touch screen is responsive. But you don’t have to rely on the touch screen since physical controls are also provided.

  • "Kia has simplified the number of buttons and controls in this generation, and it's a positive step. Meanwhile, the wide infotainment screen has a crisp display and quick responses." -- Edmunds
  • "The infotainment is much easier to use than most luxury German cars since it's based on the simple system found in other Hyundais and Kias, and it looks great with fresh graphics and displayed on the high-resolution 12.3-inch screen. … It also has a trick feature in which activating the turn signal pops open a video window showing the blind spot on either side of the car. It's wonderful and we're surprised it isn't more common in the luxury arena." -- Autoblog
  • "Kia's UVO multimedia system has virtually no learning curve; the massive 12.3-inch touchscreen is responsive, and the physical controls up front and on the folding rear center armrest are logical. The touchscreen is also positioned within easy reach for the driver and front passenger, making it easy to use on the fly. Adding the VIP package replaces traditional analog gauges with a 12.3-inch digital display featuring vivid customizable graphics, giving the K900's interior a techier look and feel. Toggling through the digital gauge's menus or the smaller display on base K900s uses the same button and scroller on the right side of the steering wheel, making it simple to use. Rounding out the infotainment experience is a fantastic 17-speaker Lexicon audio system that's crisp and creates a fabulous listening experience on par with units found in more expensive vehicles." -- Motor Trend

The Kia K900's 15.3-cubic-foot trunk is undersized for this class.
