2017 Kia K900 Interior Review

Note: This interior review was created when the 2017 Kia K900 was new.

Scorecard

Interior: 8.5

The 2017 Kia K900 has a stunning interior filled with premium materials. Its build quality is excellent, especially considering its low price relative to class rivals. Both rows of seats are spacious, and the rear seats provide a limousinelike feel for passengers.

  • "For the money, few luxury sedans can match its wealth of standard features and interior room. You'd need a vastly more expensive European or Japanese flagship sedan to get comparable size." -- Edmunds
  • "The 2017 Kia K900 sedan lives up to its luxury status with a cavernous 5-passenger cabin filled with amenities. In Korea, this car is often used as livery for executives, and it's easy to see why." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "The cockpit is absolutely gorgeous. It features the very best materials, including leather upholstery, real wood and aluminum trim, and a luxurious suedelike headliner. In addition, just about every surface is wrapped in soft-touch leathers or vinyls, all assembled with the utmost care." -- MSN Autos (2015)

Seating

The 2017 Kia K900 seats five and comes standard with leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear outboard seats. Available features include upgraded leather upholstery, front seats with additional power adjustments, power-reclining rear seats, ventilated rear outboard seats, and a heated steering wheel.

The K900's cabin is quiet. The front seats offer many angles of adjustment, making it easy to find a comfortable position. Both rows of seats offer plenty of room, but the rear seats are especially spacious and luxurious.

  • "Even if it doesn't offer the performance of its more expensive competitors, the 2017 K900 is right there with them in terms of passenger comfort. The seats are plush at all four corners; the cabin is quiet." -- Edmunds
  • "The rear seats boast loads of legroom, and they even have a reclining function. Sunshades afford privacy, and rear passengers can control the climate functions via a panel in the armrest. The front seats are equally comfortable, and the steering wheel has attractive wood trim." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "The K900's seats are La-Z-Boy comfortable, including headrests that would be worthy of first class on any airliner. If you're not driving, the K900's spacious rear seats are where you want to be." -- Left Lane News (2015)

Interior Features

Standard features in the 2017 Kia K900 include a 9.2-inch display screen, the UVO infotainment system with voice recognition, navigation, HD Radio, three USB ports, Bluetooth, a 14-speaker audio system, satellite radio, front and rearview cameras, front and rear parking sensors, a proximity key, push-button start, tri-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and adaptive headlights.

Available features include a 17-speaker Lexicon audio system, a head-up display, a surround-view camera, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking.

Despite the many standard and available features, the K900 still lacks some amenities that class rivals provide, such as a rear-seat entertainment system. The infotainment system's rotary control knob is fairly intuitive, though the on-screen menus are complex and may frustrate some drivers. On a positive note, the available Lexicon audio system delivers impeccable sound.

  • Most controls make sense, but the infotainment system has a learning curve. The head-up display is handy but takes too many steps to adjust height. The main controller knob is nice for radio tuning." -- Edmunds
  • "Kia's association with Lexicon has paid off significantly in the 2017 K900 sedan. If you're into music, really loud, crisp, clear, bass-filled music, then the 900-watt, 17-speaker Lexicon sound system is a must-have. Acoustically tuned to the K900's cabin, it's a match made in audio heaven." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • In a car of this ambition, a major touchpoint like the latter [UVO control knob] must operate with well-oiled precision and feel substantial to the touch – this one doesn't. At least the plastic knob is otherwise intuitive in operation, affording easy access to the 9.2-inch center display screen's navigation, audio, climate control, Surround View Monitor cameras and related functions." -- Autoblog (2015)

Cargo

The 2017 K900 has 15.9 cubic feet of trunk space, which is about average for the class. A power trunk lid is standard. This cargo capacity matches well against rivals like the Acura RLX and Cadillac CT6 (14.9 and 15.3 cubic feet, respectively), but it falls short of the Audi A7 hatchback, which offers 24.5 cubic feet of space.

  • "You'd hope that a big sedan like the 2017 K900 has a big trunk, and it does indeed deliver." -- Edmunds
