2016 Kia K900 Interior Review

Note: This interior review was created when the 2016 Kia K900 was new.

Scorecard

Interior: 8.4

The 2016 Kia K900 has a stunning interior filled with premium materials, according to critics. They say it is nearly on par with German rivals that represent the pinnacle of large luxury cars. Both rows of seats are spacious, and the rear seats provide a limo-like feel for passengers. The infotainment system's control knob is fairly easy to use, though the system's on-screen menus can be complicated. The K900 has slightly below-average trunk space for the class.

  • "On the whole, the 2016 Kia K900 comes tantalizingly close to matching the quality and features of the German luxury sedans it has in its sights." -- Edmunds
  • "The cockpit is absolutely gorgeous. It features the very best materials, including leather upholstery, real wood and aluminum trim, and a luxurious suedelike headliner. In addition, just about every surface is wrapped in soft-touch leathers or vinyls, all assembled with the utmost care." -- MSN Autos (2015)
  • "Covered in white Napa leather and trimmed in genuine wood, the interior of this big, rear-drive, V-8-powered Kia schooner feels roomy and luxurious. The front captain's chairs look right off the flying bridge of a fine cabin cruiser, while the VIP package option equips the rear lido deck with heated and ventilated couches that can be power adjusted a bajillion ways." -- Popular Mechanics (2015)
  • "Luscious Nappa leather and genuine walnut or poplar wood trim are spread lavishly around the interior, and we appreciated the added comfort of the 16-way power-adjusted driver's seat that is both heated and ventilated." -- Kelley Blue Book (2015)

Seating

The 2016 K900 seats five and comes standard with leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear outboard seats.

Available features include upgraded leather upholstery, front seats with additional power adjustments, power-reclining rear seats, ventilated rear outboard seats, and a heated steering wheel.

The K900's cabin is quiet. The front seats have so many adjustments that finding a comfortable driving position is easy. Both rows of seats offer plenty of room, but the rear seats are especially spacious and luxurious.

  • "[A]s we discovered during our long-term K900 test, it is a supremely comfortable and quiet car that isolates its passengers from the rigors of any commute or road trip." -- Edmunds
  • "A car with luxury aspirations has to be comfortable front and rear, and the K900 certainly delivers. The supportive driver's seat has 12 standard adjustments, and 16 are available, so any driver can find a comfortable seating position. The better place to be, however, is the rear seat. It has plenty of headroom and loads of legroom." -- MSN Autos (2015)
  • "The K900's seats are La-Z-Boy comfortable, including headrests that would be worthy of first class on any airliner. If you're not driving, the K900's spacious rear seats are where you want to be." -- Left Lane News (2015)
  • "The interior of the K900 is extremely accommodating to both front- and rear-seat passengers." -- Kelley Blue Book (2015)

Interior Features

Standard features in the 2016 Kia K900 include a panoramic sunroof, proximity key, push-button start, tri-zone automatic climate control, front- and rearview cameras, front and rear parking sensors, and the UVO infotainment system with voice recognition, navigation, HD Radio, Android Auto, two USB ports, Bluetooth, a 14-speaker audio system, satellite radio, and a 9.2-inch touch screen. Kia's UVO Luxury Services system is new for 2016 and comes standard. It includes roadside assistance features and allows you to download an app that lets you lock and unlock your car, start it, and adjust climate settings from your smartphone.

Available features include a 17-speaker Lexicon audio system, a head-up display, a surround-view camera, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and autonomous emergency braking.

Despite the many standard and available features, the K900 still lacks some amenities – such as a rear-seat entertainment system – that class rivals provide. The infotainment system's rotary control knob is fairly intuitive, though the on-screen menus are complex and may frustrate some drivers. Some of the buttons in the cabin don't have the high-quality feel that you expect in this class. On a positive note, the available Lexicon audio system delivers impeccable sound.

  • "And while the infotainment controller is similar to BMW's iDrive interface, its complicated and unintuitive menus can be a source of frustration. The numerous buttons scattered throughout the cabin also feel a bit less substantial than we'd expect. Notably absent from the options list are amenities like a rear entertainment system, redundant audio controls for backseat passengers and seatback trays." -- Edmunds
  • In a car of this ambition, a major touchpoint like the latter [UVO control knob] must operate with well-oiled precision and feel substantial to the touch - this one doesn't. At least the plastic knob is otherwise intuitive in operation, affording easy access to the 9.2-inch center display screen's navigation, audio, climate control, Surround View Monitor cameras and related functions." -- Autoblog (2015)
  • "The various UVO functions are easily accessed via a rotary knob on the center console that is flanked by a small array of direct access buttons to things like navigation and radio." -- Kelley Blue Book (2015)
  • "We didn't get much time to play around with the K900's UVO infotainment system, but we can confidently report that the sedan's 17-speaker Lexicon audio system is one of the best on the market today." -- Left Lane News (2015)

Cargo

The 2016 K900 has 15.9 cubic feet of trunk space, which is slightly below the class average. A power trunk lid is standard.
