2011 Kia Forte Review
The 2011 Kia Forte sedan, hatchback and coupe have good cargo space, class-competitive tech features and good safety scores, but some competitors have better performance.
All three versions of the 2011 Kia Forte have good cargo space for their sizes, with the hatchback offering the most space. Of the three, the sedan and hatchback have high safety scores that are good for the class. Seat space in the sedan and coupe is about what reviewers expected from a small car. They said the front seats were comfortable, but adults may be squished in the rear seats of both models.
Though air conditioning isn’t standard on the 2011 Kia Forte, it does have an impressive list of tech features for the class, which includes Bluetooth and a USB port. If you’d like more comfort, look for an EX model, which adds air conditioning, keyless entry and an upgraded stereo.
For 2011, the Forte gained six-speed manual and automatic transmissions, which have more gears than the 2010 model’s transmissions. The Kia Forte can come with one of two four-cylinder engines: a base 2.0-liter; and 2.4-liter engine, which only comes with the highest SX trim. Some reviewers didn’t find either engine particularly impressive, but thought performance was just fine for commuting. The base engine with an automatic transmission has good fuel economy ratings of 26/36 mpg city/highway. There is an Eco version that improves fuel economy, but its ratings aren’t much higher.
Overall, car reviewers liked the 2011 Kia Forte because it is a solid form of basic transportation with a quality interior and an impressive list of technology features.
Other Cars to Consider
Like the 2011 Forte, the 2011 Ford Focus has good fuel economy ratings, and car reviewers considered it a good form of basic transportation. The 2011 Focus has an available voice-activated infotainment system called Ford Sync. Both the Ford Focus and Kia Forte have good safety ratings, but the Focus has a standard safety feature that sets it apart. Its unique MyKey system helps parents monitor their teen’s driving behavior.
The 2011 Mazda3 is available as a sedan and hatchback, both of which have good safety scores, and it’s also more fun to drive than the Forte. The 2011 Mazda3 is also well-matched to the Forte when it comes to passenger and trunk space. However, fewer tech features are standard on the Mazda3.
