2009 Kia Amanti Overview

The 2009 Kia Amanti has a smooth and quiet ride, but reviewers said its comfort-tuned suspension ruined its handling. When it was new, reviewers thought the Amanti offered good value because of its low sticker price and many features. They felt that the Amanti would appeal to fans of old-school large cars, thanks to its spacious back seat and comfort-tuned ride. If you’re not put off by the Amanti’s quirky styling and you need a practical large car, the Amanti may fit the bill. However, other solid alternatives in the class offer better safety scores. Little has changed on the Amanti for 2009, so you might want to shop older models to save some money.

Inside, reviewers thought the Amanti was comfortable for the most part, but they also mentioned that other large cars offered a more refined interior. They said that the Amanti could comfortably seat four adults, but that the rear middle seat was stiff and uncomfortable. Test drivers admired the Amanti's smooth powertrain and comfortable driving dynamics, but the Amanti is built for cruising rather than performance. If you crave an exhilarating driving experience, you’ll need to look at other cars.

The Amanti’s safety score is about average for the class. However, reviewers noted that the rearview mirror may impede tall drivers’ forward vision in some cases. When it was new, reviewers liked the numerous standard and optional features on the Amanti. There is only one trim, which includes an eight-way power driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control and an eight-speaker stereo with a USB port.

Other Cars to Consider

Thanks to its solid performance and safety ratings, the 2009 Ford Taurus should be on your list of large sedans. Both vehicles are roomy inside, according to reviewers, but they thought the Taurus had slightly better interior quality. Also, the Taurus trumps the Amanti with strong safety scores, as well as more trunk space and better fuel economy.

If you like the Amanti’s features and performance, but want a car that offers mainstream exterior style, you should check out the 2008 Hyundai Azera. While the Azera’s base engine is smaller, an available V6 offers the same power as the Amanti. The smaller engine also means better fuel economy when compared with the Amanti. Inside, reviewers agreed that the Azera’s interior is comparable to the Amanti in terms of comfort and quality.
