Which Dealership Should You Head To?

Hyundai and Kia are both reliable, economical automakers. They are both based in South Korea and offer very similar product lineups. It may come as a surprise that Hyundai owns 33.88 percent of Kia Motors. If you ask representatives from each company, they acknowledge the relationship but say they remain competitive.

Such competition is good news for the consumer, as both brands’ vehicles have continuously improved over the last two decades. Today, Hyundai and Kia models rank highly in some U.S. News & World Report rankings. The Kia Soul is one of the best compact cars, and the Hyundai Sonata is one of the best midsize sedans.

Both brands have been moving upmarket too. So much so that Hyundai even split off its Genesis cars into their own division. The resulting model shakeup has led us to ask, “Which is the best brand, now?”

To figure that out, we looked at the scores of every Kia and Hyundai model on our site and compared them in several important categories and vehicle classes. That way, you not only get to see which is the best brand overall; you also get to see where each brand’s strengths lie.

Keep in mind that the scores on our site are updated constantly as new expert reviews and data become available. Therefore, the scores mentioned in this slideshow may not match the scores in our reviews.
