Which Midsize SUV Is Right for You?

The Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe are budget-friendly family haulers that compete against each other and other midsize SUVs, including the Toyota Highlander and Subaru Ascent.

The Sorento has received a midcycle refresh for 2019, including styling updates, new driver assistance features, and a new engine/transmission configuration (the V6 engine is now paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission).  Kia has eliminated the Sorento’s 2-row seating option so the Sorento now only comes in a 3-row configuration. The Korean automaker has also gotten rid of the available turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

The 2-row Hyundai Santa Fe has been completely redesigned for 2019 (the Santa Fe Sport name has been retired). The Santa Fe XL, which has 3 rows, carries over into the 2019 model year, though the configuration is expected to be dropped when the Hyundai Palisade arrives at dealerships in mid-2019.
