2010 Jeep Liberty Overview

The 2010 Jeep Liberty continues Jeep’s reputation for producing excellent off-road vehicles, but if you’re seeking a smooth daily driver, the Liberty isn’t a good choice. When it was new, reviewers were disappointed with the Liberty’s power, despite having a V6 engine, and thought that its lackluster acceleration made merging and passing difficult. Additionally, test drivers disliked the Liberty’s truck-like handling, noting that body lean and numb steering were common.

Inside, reviewers thought that the Liberty had functional and well-placed controls, but said its quality was not on par with the competition. As far as seating, reviewers felt that the Liberty had adequate leg- and headroom up front, but the back seats were tighter than most in the class. Auto critics also found that exit and entry was made difficult by the narrow door openings in the back, though they liked the Liberty’s cargo space and noted the easily-adjustable rear seats that allowed for extra room.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2010 Subaru Forester is a strong alternative to the Liberty. When it was new, reviewers loved its driving dynamics. The base Forester gets better fuel economy than the Liberty, though it has a less powerful engine. Still, the Forester has an available turbocharged engine if you’re seeking more power.

If you’re looking at the Liberty, you should check out the 2010 Nissan Xterra. Reviewers thought the Xterra is great for off-roading and, while its on-road performance isn’t great, it’s better than most other off-roaders. By choosing the Xterra, you’ll also get better interior quality and a higher safety score than the Liberty.
