2011 Jaguar XF Review

The 2011 Jaguar XF is an excellent performer, but its cramped back seat is a major drawback. However, if you’re craving power and performance, the 2011 XF delivers.

Pros & Cons

  • Powerful V8 engine options
  • Unique interior with hi-tech gadgets
  • Good handling and thrilling driving dynamics
  • No all-wheel drive option
  • Poor fuel economy

2011 Jaguar XF Overview

The 2011 Jaguar XF only offers V8 engines because it’s aimed at drivers seeking the maximum power in a large luxury car. However, there’s a tradeoff for all that power since the XF trails the competition in terms of fuel economy. When it was new, reviewers praised the XF’s performance, but noted the absence of an all-wheel drive option. With such powerful engine options, you might think the XF is just a luxurious muscle car, but test drivers found that the XF was agile and handled well. Reviewers preferred the supercharged XFR’s road grip the best. The XF wasn’t crash tested in 2011, but it has an extensive list of safety equipment, such as stability control and front and rear head airbags.

Inside, the XF failed to impress reviewers when it was new. While some auto critics felt that the XF offered a luxurious and modern interior, many felt that the back seats weren’t as spacious as rivals’. Also, headroom is a concern for taller drivers since the XF has a low roofline. Despite these setbacks, test drivers found that the seats are comfortable. The XF also has a huge, easy-to-access trunk. The XF comes with a touch-screen user interface that received mixed reviews. Some thought it is more user-friendly than systems like BMW’s iDrive, but others thought it makes simple tasks more cumbersome. The XF comes with a standard 7-inch touch-screen, 10-way power front seats and a navigation system with voice-activated controls. Optional features when it was new include blind spot monitoring, a rear camera parking aid and a 13-speaker six-disc CD changer audio system.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a great all-around large luxury sedan that offers good performance and outstanding safety scores. The E-Class also has available all-wheel drive on select models, which the XF doesn’t have.

The 2011 BMW 5-Series lacks the performance abilities of past models, but still offers strong performance, good fuel economy and a spacious interior.
