2010 Jaguar XF Overview

For the 2010 XF, Jaguar added a couple of powerful engine options to the lineup. A new 5.0-liter V8 on the Premium trim slots in-between the base model’s 4.2-liter V8 and the supercharged 5.0-liter V8. Additionally, the new XFR trim was the most powerful model in the lineup in 2010, with 40 more horsepower than the XF Supercharged.

When it was new, reviewers raved about the XF Supercharged’s V8, which they felt provided heart-pounding acceleration without sacrificing much fuel economy. The base XF gets 16/25 mpg city/highway, which is slightly better than V8-powered rivals, like the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E550 and 2010 Infiniti M45. Test drivers found the XF to be surprisingly agile given its size. However, the XF is missing an all-wheel drive option, which many competitors offer. The XF wasn’t crash tested in 2010, but has an extensive list of safety equipment, such as stability control and six airbags.

The 2010 Jaguar XF has a modern interior rather than old-world luxury, but reviewers liked the layout. When it was new, reviewers highlighted the quality trims and finishes and the high-tech look and feel. They found seating in the XF to be comfortable and supportive. However, other large cars offer more rear-seat legroom. The XF has one of the largest trunks in the class and it’s easy to access. Reviewers thought that Jaguar’s touch-screen infotainment system was slightly more user-friendly than what competitors offered.

The base XF comes with a sunroof, rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, leather, Bluetooth, navigation and a nine-speaker stereo with iPod connectivity and satellite radio. The Premium trim adds features like heated and ventilated front seats, a larger V8 and upgraded interior trim.

Other Cars to Consider

If you’re considering the XF, you should give the highly-rated 2010 Hyundai Genesis a look because of its excellent performance and outstanding safety scores. In addition, the base Genesis gets better fuel economy than the base XF.

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class offers iconic interior luxury and solid performance. However, the Jaguar’s V8 engine gets better fuel economy than the E-Class’ V8.
