The 2018 Jaguar F-Pace offers enjoyable handling, a roomy interior, and strong engine performance. But its poor predicted reliability rating and high cost of ownership keep this luxury compact SUV mired near the bottom of our rankings.
The 2018 Jaguar F-Pace's #12 ranking is based on its score within the 2018 Luxury Compact SUVs category. Currently the Jaguar F-Pace has a score of 7.2 out of 10, which is based on our evaluation of 18 pieces of research and data elements using various sources.
The Jaguar F-Pace is a decent option if you’re shopping for a used luxury SUV. Ultimately though, the F-Pace’s issues make it tough to recommend over its luxury compact SUV competitors.
The 2018 F-Pace has a number of highlights:
These highlights are obscured by lingering drawbacks:
Consider the 2018 Lexus NX or 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC if you want a used SUV with a better predicted reliability rating. Both also provide a smooth ride quality.

Based on listings for the 2018 Jaguar F-Pace on our site, the average list price is $45,000. Prices range from $36,300 to $58,500 and vary depending on the vehicle's condition, mileage, features, and location.
The F-Pace’s five-year costs for gas, insurance, repairs, and maintenance are projected to be around $31,100, or $6,220 per year. That’s higher than average for a luxury compact SUV.
The 2019 Jaguar F-Pace starts at around $45,000. Because the 2019 model saw few major changes, you can likely spend less money by purchasing a used 2018 model while still finding many of the same tech, safety, and convenience features. However, the 2019 F-Pace offers more standard features, such as a rearview camera, a 10-inch touch screen, parking sensors, and forward collision warning. These were all options for the 2018 F-Pace.

You may also want to consider the 2017 F-Pace. Jaguar launched the SUV as an all-new model for that year, and these vehicles share many of the same available features. The main difference is that the 2017 F-Pace doesn’t offer Jaguar’s turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which was made available for the 2018-and-newer models.

The 2018 Jaguar F-Pace is offered in six trim levels: F-Pace, Premium, Prestige, R-Sport, S, and Portfolio. There are also four available engines: the base turbo four (25t), an upgraded turbo four (30t), a turbo diesel (20d), and a supercharged V6 (35t). (See the Performance section below for more on each engine.) The base model F-Pace isn’t well-equipped for a luxury SUV, so you may want to skip that trim. The midrange Prestige model adds amenities like leather seats and a navigation system, and it offers a wider variety of engine options. All models have an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

Jaguar offers a certified pre-owned program for vehicles five years old or less and with fewer than 60,000 miles. Eligibility is determined by the vehicle’s initial sale date. For its certified pre-owned vehicles, Jaguar extends the original new-car warranty to seven years or 100,000 miles. Every CPO Jaguar must pass a 165-point inspection. Additional benefits like towing, roadside assistance, and trip interruption benefits may be available, so read the Jaguar warranty page carefully.
Jaguar has a good CPO program compared to other luxury automakers, but according to our analysis, brands such as Volvo and Lexus have better ones.
Neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has crash tested the 2018 Jaguar F-Pace.

The 2018 BMW X3 is a fine option in this segment. Like the F-Pace, the X3 offers nimble handling, zippy engine performance, roomy seating and cargo space, and many of the same available safety features. The X3 just makes a bit more practical sense for buyers, and it has a better predicted reliability rating. The X3 also has an easier-to-use infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay. Give the BMW a look first.
The 2018 Audi Q5 boasts a user-friendly infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, lovely interior materials, zippy turbocharged engines, and pleasant driving dynamics. Both models offer similar interior space, as well as many of the same safety features. Both SUVs also have a below-average predicted reliability rating. You may want to consider rivals with better reliability ratings first.

The Jaguar F-Pace has great driving dynamics. The SUV feels light and agile, thanks in part to its quick steering, and it remains stable when rounding sharp turns. Its large brakes provide fine stopping power. The F-Pace’s suspension glides the SUV smoothly over bumps and dips in the pavement, providing a comfortable ride. That said, the F-Pace doesn’t ride as nicely when paired with the optional 20- and 22-inch wheels. These large wheels tend to jitter and clomp over rough road surfaces. Stick with the smaller 18- and 19-inch wheels.
The F-Pace is offered with a bevy of engine options, and each feels well-matched to the SUV. The standard (25t) and available (30t) four-cylinder turbos are responsive, and they can hustle the F-Pace from zero to 60 mph in around six seconds. The supercharged V6 (35t) is even punchier, and it shaves nearly a second from that zero-to-60 time. Acceleration from the diesel engine (20d) is a bit weak initially, but it scoots the F-Pace along confidently once the SUV gets rolling, and it supplies strong passing power at highway speeds. The eight-speed automatic transmission, which is standard with all engines, delivers smooth, prompt gear changes.
The F-Pace earns good fuel economy estimates when paired with its four-cylinder gas and diesel engines. The available V6 engine isn’t very fuel-efficient though.
The F-Pace can tow up to 5,290 pounds when properly equipped.

The Jaguar F-Pace is a two-row luxury SUV with five seats. The front seats are comfortable and supportive, and the driving position is relaxed, due in part to the range of seat and steering wheel adjustments. There’s generous headroom and legroom in both rows, even for taller passengers. Rear visibility is limited by the SUV’s thick roof pillars.
The F-Pace’s cabin is handsomely styled, and it’s trimmed with quality upholstery and soft-touch plastics, especially on the dashboard. That said, there are some cheaper-looking plastics in less-obvious areas.

Available seating features:
The F-Pace has two full sets of LATCH connectors for securing car seats.
The F-Pace stumbles a bit in terms of its convenience features. The standard 8-inch touch screen looks outdated and is often slow to respond to inputs, and the F-Pace doesn’t support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
On the bright side, the available 10-inch touch screen (InControl Pro) not only works quickly, but its sleeker layout feels a lot more user-friendly. The climate control buttons are also simple to use, no matter which infotainment display you choose.

The F-Pace has 33.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and 63.5 cubic feet of space with these seats folded. That’s one of the largest cargo areas in the luxury compact SUV class. The 2018 Volvo XC60 and 2018 BMW X3 offer similar space.
These cargo dimensions are for comparative purposes. There is no substitute for visually examining the storage area in any car you’re considering.
