2019 Infiniti QX60 Interior Review

Scorecard

Interior: 8.2

The 2019 Infiniti QX60's interior rates highly. The cabin looks great, though opinions are split about materials quality. The seats are spacious, if a tad firm, and there's above-average cargo capacity. The infotainment system is user-friendly.

  • "Other than the hard plastic dash, the QX60's cabin trimmings are appealing, with fine leather and attractive wood. The usual Infiniti quality is present in abundance. Above-average workmanship at average pricing." -- Edmunds (2018)
  • "Inside, the QX60's visually pleasing cabin is filled with contrasting colors, soft-touch surfaces and supportive seating including a third row that is actually workable for two adults." -- Kelley Blue Book (2017)
  • "Like its plebeian Nissan counterpart, the QX60 offers an experience that's marred by subpar interior materials. Crudely cut upper door panels, a hard plastic dashboard, and trim pieces plucked from the cheaper Pathfinder blemish the QX60's otherwise comfortable and sensible cabin that includes an easy-to-use, if button-heavy, infotainment system." -- Car and Driver (2017)

Seating

The QX60 seats seven and comes standard with leatherette upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, and heated front seats. Leather upholstery, Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, and a heated steering wheel are available.

The QX60's seats are on the firm side, but they're comfortable. Perhaps more impressive is that all three rows of seats can accommodate adults, though they won't want to spend all day in the third row. The second-row seats slide and recline.

There are two full sets of LATCH connectors for installing car seats, and four additional seats feature tether anchors. The system is generally easy to use, but the lower anchors are set deep in the seats.

  • "… Infiniti's 2018 QX60 luxury SUV stands out because its plush, leather-lined cabin is comfortable in all seven spots. The comfortable front seats make highway miles go by in a flash, and climate, audio and navigation controls are easy to reach and use. The third row is surprisingly accommodating for two adults and, thanks to a second row that slides fore and aft, getting there is easy. Infiniti makes the interior even more pleasing with ample soft-touch materials, and by using laminated glass to make the interior quieter." -- Kelley Blue Book (2018)
  • The front seats are firm but still quite comfortable. The second row isn't super-plush either, but it offers stadium seating. The third row has good head- and footroom, but adults will find their knees level with their chest." -- Edmunds (2018)
  • "Further adding to the QX60's relaxed nature is a pair of soft and supportive seats for the driver and front passenger, and a spacious 60/40 split-folding second-row bench that slides, reclines, and can be tilted forward for third-row access even with a child seat in place, albeit only on the 40 side. Step-in height is low, as is lift-over height for the cargo area." -- Car and Driver (2017)

Interior Features

Standard features in the QX60 include a moonroof, tri-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth, two USB ports, a six-speaker audio system, satellite radio, HD Radio, and the Infiniti InTouch infotainment system with an 8-inch display screen. Available features include a 120V outlet, remote start, 13- and 15-speaker Bose audio systems, a dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system, navigation, and an 8-inch touch screen.

Standard driver assistance features include a rearview camera, blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning, and forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection. Available driver assistance features include a surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, moving object detection, blind spot intervention, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic high beams, and backup collision intervention.

You can control the infotainment system with the available touch screen and the redundant physical buttons. The many controls make the dash look busy, and some of the controls are tough to reach from the driver's seat. However, the touch-screen interface is user-friendly.

  • The infotainment control knob is high on the dash, requiring not only a reach but also a deliberate glance over to find it. The touchscreen interface is a nice alternative, but it doesn't alleviate this issue. The menus are pretty intuitive to navigate." -- Edmunds (2018)
  •  -"Speaking of safety systems, the controls are all over the place. Why are there buttons for safety systems near the driver's left knee, on the steering wheel, and in the infotainment system? It's almost like the designers were being deliberately obtuse." -- Autoblog (2016)
  • "The infotainment system, which comprises a touchscreen, rotary knob and traditional buttons, is straightforward and easy to use, and numerous nifty options – like an 'Around View' camera system that provides a bird's-eye view of surroundings during parking maneuvers – are available." -- Left Lane News (2015)

Cargo

The QX60 has 16 cubic feet of space behind the third-row seats, 40.5 cubic feet behind the second row, and 76.2 cubic feet behind the first row (capacities drop slightly in models with a moonroof). This Infiniti has more cargo room than most competitors with all seats in use and with the third row folded, but its maximum capacity is in the middle of the pack.

The split-folding second- and third-row seats give you added cargo flexibility. A power liftgate comes standard, and a hands-free liftgate is available.

  • "The fold-down second- and third-row seats also give you the flexibility you need for mixing passengers and cargo." -- Edmunds
  • "Cargo space is generous." -- Motor Trend (2017)
