Is the 2019 Infiniti QX30 a Good Used SUV?

No, the QX30 is not a good used luxury subcompact SUV. Its positives include low list prices, a top-notch interior, and decent acceleration. However, it comes up short in two key areas that crossover shoppers likely prioritize: rear-seat passenger space and cargo volume. The infotainment touch screen can be hard to reach, and modern tech features such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are nowhere to be found. Add in a below-average predicted reliability rating and an uneven automatic transmission, and there's not much to like about this Infiniti.

2018 vs. 2019 Infiniti QX30: What's the Difference?

The Infiniti QX30 was only produced for the 2017, 2018, and 2019 model years, and the only major changes during its existence were made during a mid-2018 model year update. Trim levels were renamed, and forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking became standard. Because these changes happened mid-model year, you'll find some 2018 models that are identical to a 2019 QX30 and some that are different.

Which Used Infiniti QX30 Trim Is Right for Me?

The 2019 Infiniti QX30 comes in four trim levels: Pure, Luxe, Essential, and Sport. A turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive are standard. The Luxe and Essential trims are available with all-wheel drive.

The base model comes with most of the car's available infotainment features, as well as automatic emergency braking. However, it's worth finding at least a Luxe trim to get upgraded synthetic leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seats, and a moonroof. You'll also have to find a Luxe or Essential trim if you want features such as all-wheel drive or parking sensors.

What Does Infiniti's Certified Pre-Owned Warranty Cover?

Infiniti offers a certified pre-owned program for vehicles six years old or less and with fewer than 70,000 miles. Eligibility is determined by the vehicle’s initial sale date. The Infiniti certified pre-owned warranty has three levels of coverage based on the vehicle’s age and mileage.

Vehicles with less than 15,000 miles receive a six-year/75,000-mile warranty from the original new-car purchase date. Vehicles less than four years old with more than 15,000 miles receive a six-year/unlimited-mileage warranty from the original new-car purchase date. Finally, vehicles more than four years old with more than 15,000 miles receive a two-year/unlimited-mileage warranty good from the CPO purchase date. Infiniti CPO vehicles must pass a 167-point inspection. Infiniti CPO vehicles also receive free maintenance for one year. Additional benefits like towing, roadside assistance, and trip interruption coverage may be available, so read the Infiniti warranty page carefully.

Infiniti has one of the better CPO programs in the industry, according to our analysis. Lexus and Audi are among the very few that are better.

2019 Infiniti QX30 Versus the Competition

Which Is Better: 2019 Infiniti QX30 or 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA?

The QX30 and the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA were developed in cooperation, so they share some critical components. They both have the same Mercedes-sourced standard engine, but you can find a high-performance Mercedes-Benz AMG GLA with a lot more engine power. In general, the Benz is sportier and handles with more agility, but that comes at the expense of ride comfort. Both of these subcompact SUVs are subpar when it comes to passenger room and cargo space, but the GLA has a much better predicted reliability rating and is available with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. All of those considerations are enough to make it the better pick.

Which Is Better: 2019 Infiniti QX30 or 2019 Jaguar E-Pace?

The 2019 Jaguar E-Pace has among the most cargo room in the luxury subcompact SUV class, as well as straightforward infotainment controls. Standard all-wheel drive gives it great road grip, along with a composed ride and handling. While the QX30 has swift acceleration from its sole engine offering, neither of the E-Pace's powertrains – both of which have much more horsepower than the QX30 – impress that much. The E-Pace will also cost you a lot more. List prices for a used E-Pace can be around $10,000 more than for a QX30. The Jaguar is a more well-rounded SUV, but you’ll have to decide if it’s worth the extra expense.

2019 QX30 Performance

How Does the 2019 Infiniti QX30 Drive?

Maneuverability in tight spaces is good, and the QX30 stays composed over bumps in the road or rough pavement. It's far from the sportiest crossover in the class, but it can hold its own around turns.

The QX30 comes standard with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine. While its horsepower output is on the low end of the class, this Infiniti has no trouble scooting away from a stop or briskly getting up to highway speeds. A dual-clutch automatic transmission mostly delivers smooth shifts, but it can occasionally stutter or feel unrefined.

  • Engine: 208-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder
  • Drivetrain: standard front-wheel drive; available all-wheel drive (AWD)
  • Transmission: seven-speed dual-clutch automatic
Does the 2019 Infiniti QX30 Get Good Gas Mileage?

The 2019 QX30 gets some of the best fuel economy estimates in the luxury subcompact SUV class. With front-wheel drive, it returns 24 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. AWD models get 21 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

2019 QX30 Interior

How Many People Does the 2019 QX30 Seat?

The 2019 QX30 seats five people in two rows. The front seats are comfortable and offer good support, and the cabin feels reasonably spacious around you. Most people should find enough rear-seat space, but legroom can be a little tight for taller riders. Additionally, rear visibility for the driver is compromised by small windows and thick pillars.

This Infiniti has an upscale interior marked by plenty of high-quality materials, such as wood trim pieces and supple leather coverings. Still, there are noticeable amounts of road and wind noise that permeate the cabin.

Standard seating features:

  • Cloth upholstery
  • Eight-way manually adjustable front seats
  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel

Available seating features:

  • Synthetic leather upholstery
  • Synthetic leather and suede upholstery
  • Nappa genuine leather upholstery
  • Eight-way power-adjustable and heated front seats
  • Front-seat memory settings
  • Front sport seats
  • Rear-seat center armrest
How Many Child Car Seats Fit in the 2019 Infiniti QX30?

The 2019 QX30 has two complete sets of LATCH car-seat connectors for the rear outboard seats and an upper tether for the rear middle seat.

2019 Infiniti QX30 Features

Infiniti's InTouch infotainment system impresses with its responsive touch screen and redundant physical controls. However, the screen is set far back on the dash, which makes it hard to reach from the driver's seat. The QX30 feels outdated because it doesn't offer modern conveniences such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

  • Standard infotainment features: a 7-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, two USB ports, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, HD Radio, and voice recognition
  • Available infotainment features: a 10-speaker Bose premium stereo and navigation
  • Additional standard features: an auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, and proximity keyless entry
  • Other available features: a panoramic moonroof and a universal garage door opener
