2010 Infiniti M Overview

The M is quietly one of the top performers in the class, with power and athletic handling that comes close to the highly- touted 2010 BMW 5-Series. However, when it was new, reviewers cautioned that the M might not be for everyone because of its firm ride. With V6 or V8 engines in the M35 and M45, respectively, the M packs plenty of power.

Reviewers felt that the V6 provided more than enough power for the average driver, though its fuel economy is a bit low for the class, at 17/25 mpg city/highway. Additionally, the M earns lower estimates if you opt for all-wheel drive or the V8-powered M45.

When it was new, reviewers felt the M was worthy of comparison with other luxury brands, offering a stylish cabin with an appealing modern design theme. They liked the space and comfort of the front and back seats, including the available reclining, heated rear seats. Reviewers thought controls were easier to use than in other cars, though some felt its separate controls made the center stack jumbled, and its systems were a little dated.

Standard features in the base M35 sedan include a sunroof, dual-zone climate control, leather, push-button start, heated and cooled front seats, Bluetooth and satellite radio. Items like a sport-tuned suspension, navigation, a backup camera and an upgraded stereo were bundled into option packages when the M was new.

Other Cars to Consider

If you’re looking for a softer ride, the 2010 Lexus GS should be on your list. The GS doesn’t have the performance punch of the M, but it is a capable daily driver. The GS has a high-end interior and it gets better estimated fuel economy ratings than the Infiniti M.

The 2010 BMW 5-Series is a good alternative if you’re seeking a thrilling driving experience. The 5-Series has several engine options that will satisfy most driving enthusiasts looking for power. Also, the 5-Series’ base engine gets better fuel economy than the base M.
