2012 Infiniti G37 Review

Test drivers agreed that the 2012 Infiniti G has lively handling and a stylish, well-built interior.

Pros & Cons

  • Crisp handling
  • Sleek, upscale interior
  • Uninhabitable back seat in coupe and convertible

2012 Infiniti G37 Overview

The 2012 G is available in sedan, coupe and convertible body styles. The Infiniti G25 comes with a 2.5-liter V6 that reviewers said has sufficient power. 2012 Infiniti G37 models have a 3.7-liter V6, and reviewers wrote that it delivers powerful acceleration. The high-performance IPL coupe has a retuned, more powerful version of the 3.7-liter V6. The Infiniti G is available with a seven-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission and either rear- or all-wheel drive. According to the EPA, the 2012 Infiniti G37 sedan gets 19/27 mpg city/highway, which is on par with the fuel economy of cars like the 2012 Lexus IS 350 and Mercedes-Benz C350. Reviewers said the G sedan and coupe have excellent driving dynamics, with nimble handling, lots of road grip, precise steering and powerful brakes. They added that the G feels composed while riding over bumpy pavement. Critics noted the G convertible's extra weight diminishes its handling prowess compared with coupe and sedan models.

Reviewers said the 2012 Infiniti G has a sleek interior design, with solid build quality and premium materials like real aluminum accents. Most critics agreed that the front seats are comfortable and the sedan's rear seats offer adequate space for adults. However, they added that the coupe and convertible models have unusually small rear seats that are almost unusable, even for children. Trunk space in the sedan is typical for the class, but critics said the coupe’s trunk is small and the convertible offers very little trunk space when the top is down. Standard features in the 2012 Infiniti G include leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, a six-speaker audio system and satellite radio. Available features include a moonroof, navigation, a rearview camera, Bluetooth and a USB port.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2012 Acura TL impressed critics with its strong engine lineup and agile handling, especially in all-wheel drive models. The TL's interior was praised for its top-quality materials and one of the roomiest back seats in the class.

Reviewers agreed that the 2012 Cadillac CTS has nimble handling and a smooth ride, as well as ample power with its available 3.6-liter V6. They also liked the CTS’ handsome interior styling and opulent materials.
