For a vehicle to qualify for Infiniti’s manufacturer-sponsored CPO program, it must be less than six years old and have less than 70,000 miles on the odometer.

Inspection Process

Infiniti puts all CPO cars through a rigorous 167-point inspection and obtains a CARFAX vehicle history report.

During the inspection, a trained technician assesses the condition of the interior, exterior, drivetrain, chassis, brakes, steering, and suspension. For the car to be deemed worthy, it must meet all specifications on the standard checklist. Infiniti also requires a detailed road test and a second inspection prior to certifying its vehicles.

Warranty

One of the best parts of Infiniti’s CPO program is the competitive warranty, although the automaker offers several different warranty tiers, which can make things confusing. Let’s make some sense of Infiniti’s CPO warranty details.

  • If the Infiniti CPO has less than 15,000 miles and is four years old or younger, you get a six-year or 75,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty (whichever comes first).
  • For Infiniti vehicles with over 15,000 miles, the warranty expands to six years with unlimited mileage.
  • If the original factory warranty is expired, Infiniti will still cover the CPO for two years, with unlimited mileage

Additionally, Infiniti offers its Elite extended protection plan. This extends the warranty for up to eight years and 120,000 miles. It is only available on Infiniti CPO Preferred vehicles, which are those that have less than 15,000 miles and are four years old or younger. You will also get deductible-free covered repairs, expanded roadside assistance, and extended coverage on features like audio, infotainment, and navigation.

Extras

Infiniti offers a long list of extras as part of its certified pre-owned program. You will get 24-hour roadside assistance for the duration of the CPO warranty, a three-year CARFAX buyback guarantee, and three months of free SiriusXM satellite radio.

Also, Infiniti will provide you with a complimentary loaner vehicle when your car is in for covered service during the vehicle’s original four-year, 60,000-mile basic warranty. This is always subject to availability, though Infiniti will reimburse you up to $35 a day or a maximum $175 for five days for your rental car expenses when a covered component is being repaired. This does not include collision repairs.

If your Infiniti CPO breaks down due to a covered component, and you are over 100 miles from home, the automaker will provide trip interruption insurance. You can get up to $500 to cover meals, lodging, and alternative transportation.

Finally, Infiniti includes complimentary basic maintenance for the first year of ownership. For 2015 and older models, it covers two oil and filter changes, and two tire rotations. If the vehicle is a 2016 model or newer, you only get one oil change. Infiniti charges a $50 deductible for covered repairs, unless you upgrade to the Elite warranty.

How Does It Compare to Rivals?

Though Infiniti’s multi-tiered warranty is difficult to sort out, it’s better than that of many competing automakers. Being able to transfer the warranty is a major bonus, because it will allow you to resell the car at a higher price.

Complimentary basic maintenance for the first year is a nice convenience, and not all CPO programs offer it.
