2009 Hyundai Veracruz Overview

When it was new, reviewers said the 2009 Hyundai Veracruz has a soft ride that will satisfy those looking to keep passengers comfortable, but not necessarily those hoping for an SUV with agile handling. The Veracruz comes with a V6 engine that reviewers found plenty powerful for highway passing and daily driving. Maximum fuel economy is 16/23 mpg city/highway, which is slightly less than other three-row SUVs’ fuel economy. The Veracruz comes with either front- or all-wheel drive.

Reviewers were pleased with the Veracruz’s interior build quality and impressive array of standard features. Although some remarked that the third-row seats are a bit tight, that is a common complaint for most midsize SUVs. Reviewers said the front seats offer plenty of comfort, and that the optional leather seats have a rich feel. Standard features include a six-speaker stereo with steering wheel-mounted controls, satellite radio and a USB port. Available features include a power sunroof, rear-seat entertainment system, power liftgate, leather seats, heated and power-adjustable front seats, navigation and a 10-speaker Infinity stereo.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2009 Toyota Highlander was a reviewer favorite for its smooth powertrains and comfortable, well-built interior. The Highlander also has excellent safety scores, and it gets better fuel economy than the Veracruz.

Reviewers said the 2009 GMC Acadia has one of the most spacious interiors in the class, including cargo capacity that is rivaled by few midsize SUVs. The Acadia also has an excellent safety score and uses a bit less fuel than the Veracruz.
