The 2021 Hyundai Ioniq has easy-to-use tech features and a cavernous cargo hold. Most critics say that the cabin is built with materials that look and feel appropriate for the price. However, a few reviews mention that the plastics and upholstery seem cheap. Also, space for rear-seat passengers is lacking.
The Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid has a maximum of 26.5 cubic feet of cargo space, which is more room than most hybrid and electric cars offer. With 23 cubic feet, the plug-in-hybrid and electric models have a bit less room, but there’s still plenty of space for a small car.
Although up to five people can sit in the Ioniq, not all occupants will find an exceptional amount of room. Many rivals offer more rear-seat legroom. Some critics think that the rear seats are comfortable, but others say they feel overly firm.
Cloth upholstery and a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat are standard. The plug-in-hybrid and electric models get heated front seats as standard, and they’re available in the hybrid. Other options include leather upholstery and a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat.
For installing child safety seats, there are two complete sets of LATCH connectors for the rear outboard seats and a tether anchor for the rear middle seat. The lower anchors are set deeply in the seats, but the setup is otherwise easy to use.
The Ioniq's standard infotainment system is composed of an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a USB port, Bluetooth, and a six-speaker stereo. This system is user-friendly, and the responsive touch screen features well-organized menus. There are also physical controls below the screen for some settings. A 10.25-inch touch screen, navigation, satellite radio wireless device charging, and a Harman Kardon stereo are available.
Other standard features include push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, a rearview camera, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and a driver condition monitor.
Optional safety features include blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, highway drive assist, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, lane follow assist, and cyclist detection.
