2009 Honda S2000 Overview

The rear-wheel drive 2009 Honda S2000 with a 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine and manual transmission was a hit among reviewers for its race car performance. However, in order to get that performance, reviewers said you need to keep the rpm up. The manual transmission is the only available transmission, and reviewers were pleased with its smooth shifts. The S2000 gets 18/25 mpg city/highway, which is typical in the affordable sports car class. On winding roads, reviewers loved the S2000’s superior handling dynamics. However, they added that a stiff suspension makes the ride unpleasant on long trips and bumpy roads.

Reviewers said the 2009 Honda S2000 is built for function and performance over interior comfort. Most said the simplistic interior doesn’t feel cheap, but test drivers really disliked the cramped driver’s seat. Cargo space, at 5 cubic feet, is low for the class, but other two-seaters have comparable space. The 2009 Honda S2000 has a standard power-retractable soft top, leather upholstery, air conditioning and a CD player. The CR trim gets rid of the air conditioning and sound system but adds a removable hard top and fabric seats with suede inserts to reduce the overall weight of the S2000. Other affordable sports cars have a longer list of standard and available features like Bluetooth, heated seats and a navigation system.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2009 Mazda Miata is a good option for those who are looking for a reliable two-seater. The Miata also has a longer list of standard features.

Shoppers looking for an exciting ride should check out the 2009 Nissan 350Z. Reviewers said the interior has roomy seating for two, and those looking for more available features than the S2000 will not be disappointed.
