2010 Honda Ridgeline Overview

When it was new, reviewers praised the 2010 Honda Ridgeline, saying that its ride was exceptionally comfortable for a truck. Test drivers also wrote that while the Ridgeline handles fairly well on paved roads, it isn’t the best off-road truck as it lacks the off-road capability of some rival compact trucks. The 2010 Ridgeline comes with a standard V6 engine, and most reviewers agreed that it is powerful enough in most situations. All-wheel drive and an automatic transmission are standard. The Ridgeline achieves 15/20 mpg city/highway, which is slightly better than the Ford Explorer Sport Trac's fuel economy, but not as good as a similarly-equipped Toyota Tacoma. Maximum towing capacity is 5,000 pounds, which is low for the class.

The Honda Ridgeline is a crew-cab truck that seats five. Generally, reviewers said that the Ridgeline’s seats offer enough comfort and space in the front and back, though one critic found it difficult to find an ideal driving position. Reviewers said that the cabin offers clear gauges and a functional design, but they also thought that it is constructed with too many cheap plastics. Standard features include a six-speaker stereo with CD player, air conditioning, cruise control and a power-sliding rear window. Upper trims add features like a power sunroof, leather upholstery, heated front seats, Bluetooth, an auxiliary input jack, satellite radio, navigation, a backup camera and dual-zone automatic climate control. Reviewers liked the Ridgeline’s tailgate that not only folds down but also swings out to one side. The Ridgeline also offers a lockable in-bed trunk, which can hold up to 8.5 cubic feet of cargo.

Other Trucks to Consider

The 2010 Nissan Frontier is available with a crew cab, and reviewers liked its available V6 engine, which they said is refined and powerful. The Frontier also has a higher towing capacity than the Ridgeline when properly equipped.

The 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac blurs the line between SUV and truck, just like the Ridgeline. The Explorer Sport Trac matches the Ridgeline’s comfortable ride, but it also offers an available V8 engine and a higher towing capacity.
