Buying Advice

Last Updated: January 25, 2019

Warming Sales: In 2018, Honda Odyssey sales were up 6 percent relative to 2017. The Odyssey ranked third in the minivan segment in overall sales in 2018 behind the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Pacifica. The Grand Caravan outsold the Odyssey by about 43 percent.

Above-Average Pricing: A base model Odyssey starts at $30,090, which is $1,800 above the class average when excluding the expensive Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. A top-of-the-line Odyssey nearly hits $47,000, which is pricey for the class; only a comparably equipped Toyota Sienna costs more.

Time to Buy: Despite higher than average prices, the Odyssey is our top-ranked minivan, and is a good buy regardless of market conditions. On top of this, with the newest 2019 model now on the market, bargain shoppers should be able to find a good price on a 2018 version as dealerships look to clear their inventory. This month’s Honda deals page has all the best finance and lease deals to help you save even more.
