2019 Honda Fit Interior Review

Scorecard

Interior: 8.6

The interior is where the 2019 Honda Fit really shines. In fact, it has one of the most spacious and comfortable interiors in its class. High-quality, soft-touch materials are found throughout the cabin, with only the occasional hard plastic sticking out. The Fit’s inventive rear Magic Seat has multiple configurations, giving you more hauling options than most subcompact cars. All but the base model have smartphone integration, and advanced safety features are available in every trim.

  • "Soft-touch materials adorn the 5-seat Fit cabin, along with attractive silver-accent trim." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • There are some hard plastics, but the touch surfaces are generally soft. The controls have a slick action, and there's no overriding sense that this is an inexpensive car." -- Edmunds
  • "The Fit may not be as comfy or as upscale as its bigger Honda siblings, but interior materials are still a cut above the rest. The cabin even looks pretty cool, especially with the available touchscreen interface." -- Autotrader (2017)

Seating

The Honda Fit seats up to five people. Headroom is plentiful all-around, and the car's generous passenger space means two adults can ride contentedly in the rear seat. The Fit comes standard with cloth upholstery and a split-folding rear seat. Upgrades include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather upholstery, and heated front seats.

For attaching child safety seats, the Fit comes with two complete sets of LATCH connectors and a middle-seat tether anchor.

  • "Who doesn't love a small car that accommodates tall people and lots of cargo? That, in a nutshell, is the 2019 Honda Fit. Creative packaging is largely responsible, with Honda placing the fuel tank beneath the front seats to free up room elsewhere." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "Four adults fit without effort. The driver's seat doesn't provide the combination of seat height and thigh support that I prefer, but when I consider such a complaint, I must remember that getting a leather-wrapped tilt/telescopic steering wheel and a seat height adjuster in such an inexpensive car is something of a miracle." -- New York Daily News (2018)
  • "The flexible interior, with its multiple backseat configurations and copious headroom for all occupants, is a favorite of mine in this segment. The Fit is one of the few with a backseat I'd feel comfortable asking adults to sit in for an extended period." -- Cars.com (2018)

Interior Features

The base trim of the 2019 Fit comes with a rearview camera, a 5-inch display screen, four speakers, Bluetooth, and a USB port. All other trims get an upgraded infotainment system that features a 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Pandora compatibility, HondaLink (for additional smartphone integration), and six speakers. Optional features include a moonroof, a navigation system (with voice recognition), satellite radio, HD Radio, push-button start, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, a collision mitigation braking system, a road departure mitigation system, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, Honda LaneWatch (a passenger-side, blind spot camera), and a proximity key.

The Fit's infotainment interface has a clean look and a few handy knobs that make it easy to use, although some rivals' systems are more straightforward. Except for the entry-level trim, the Fit comes nicely equipped with user favorites such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphone integration. Also worth mentioning is the impressive amount of advanced safety features available in this subcompact car.

  • The Fit's chunky temp knobs and cabin controls are well-placed and easy to use. The 7-inch touchscreen interface isn't the most intuitive, but Android Auto and Apple CarPlay help." -- Edmunds
  • "Addressing two of our chief complaints is a new 7.0-inch Display Audio infotainment system that comes standard on Sport, EX, and EX-L models. Finally, it offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and even better, the volume knob is back." -- Car and Driver (2018)
  • A new infotainment system debuts for 2018. Standard in Sport, EX, and EX-L trims, the Display Audio system gains a volume knob as well as smartphone projection support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Improved graphics are also a part of the upgrade for 2018. Too bad Honda continues to offer LaneWatch in the freshened Fit, instead of a proper blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert." -- New York Daily News (2018)

Cargo

The Fit is a hatchback with 16.6 cubic feet of space behind the rear seat. Fold down the rear seat to create 52.7 cubic feet of cargo space. The back seat, which Honda dubs the "Magic Seat," does much more than just fold flat with a 60/40 split. The seat cushions can be folded up to haul taller items, and the front-passenger seat can be folded flat to haul longer items or create a makeshift bed.

  • "And then there's the clever Magic Seat, which splits 60/40 and folds in ways to let the owner carry a bicycle or even a surfboard." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "The ingenious back seat allows for many loading options, and it folds flat to create a surprisingly large maximum cargo area. The seat bottom flips up for tall, upright items. The Fit is unrivaled in its class in this category." -- Edmunds
  • "Along with a sophisticated-looking gauge cluster, there's the Fit's trademark 60/40 split rear Magic Seat, which lets you flip the lower cushion up to carry taller items or flop the seatback down, extending the Fit's heroically low and flat cargo floor." -- Car and Driver (2018)
