2007 Honda Civic Review

Note: This review was created when the 2007 Honda Civic was new.

The Civic delivers more spacious seats and a better ride than you might expect from a compact. While the Civic continues to set the benchmark for quality in the compact car class, Honda's Fit and Civic Hybrid are also worthy options.

Pros & Cons

  • Responsive, quiet ride for a compact car
  • Stylish design
  • Most find the seats to be spacious and comfortable
  • Navigation system optional, a rarity in its class

2007 Honda Civic Overview

In its second year after a major redesign, the 2007 Honda Civic garners solid praise for its performance and value, with its sleek, modern styling also winning high marks. "Long considered the standard by which all other compacts are measured," as Kelley Blue Book describes, the Civic is appreciated for its seamless performance and sporty interior and exterior. The new Civic is more powerful than before and more fuel efficient. Most find it more fun to drive as well. U.S. News reviewer Rick Newman sums up the Civic well: "It's not a sports car, but the Civic is perky and holds curves nicely ... there's no single thing that blows you away about the Civic. Except the total package."

A class favorite, the 2007 Honda Civic is the recipient of Edmunds' Most Wanted Sedan Under $20,000 and Most Wanted Coupe Under $20,000 awards. The 2007 Civic has also been honored as a Consumer Guide Best Buy.

Most critics agree that the new Civic is an excellent value within its class. The Detroit News says the Civic delivers "great styling, high quality, smooth ride, sweet powertrain, super mileage, excellent quality. And it costs less than $20,000. We're not talking about just a great economy car, the ... Civic is an outstanding product by almost any measure." IntelliChoice gives the Honda Civic sedan an "excellent" overall value rating, based on the predicted five-year total cost of ownership compared to others in its class. The sportier Civic Si receives an "average" overall value rating.
