  • Consequence: An inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

THE OUTER RACE OF THE SECONDARY SHAFT BEARING MAY BE BROKEN DURING CERTAIN DRIVING STYLES. A BROKEN OUTER RACE MAY CAUSE ABNORMAL NOISE, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT TO TURN ON, AND ALLOW CONTACT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION IDLE GEAR AND AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR HOUSING WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION.

  • Consequence: THIS COULD RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. One dealership may have incorrectly installed the replacement air bag inflators.
  • Potential Number of Units Affected: 646
  • Consequence: In the event of a crash, an incorrectly installed passenger frontal air bag inflator may deploy the air bag improperly, increasing the risk of injury.
  • Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag module assembly, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin October 1, 2017. In the affected vehicles, the side impact sensor calibrations may be overly sensitive, and as a result, the side air bag inflatable curtains and/or seat air bags may unexpectedly deploy when the ignition is on and the door is slammed or there is an impact with road debris.

  • Consequence: Air bags that unexpectedly deploy increase the risk of a crash or injury.

2008 Honda Accord Warranty

The 2008 Honda Accord provides a three-year or 36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty, as well as a five-year or 60,000 mile powertrain limited warranty. Corrosion protection is provided for the first five years, regardless of mileage.

Honda has a consistent record for selling reliable vehicles, and the 2007 model received very good marks for its predicted reliability. Consumer Guide rates the 2008 Accord as a Best Buy, but reports a few mechanical issues with previous Accords, including issues that range from defective sunroofs to the spontaneous activation of engine or brake warning lights. Still, reviews uphold Honda's reputation for reliability.
