Honda Brings Its Passport out of Retirement for the 2019 Model Year

The original Honda Passport was a tough, body-on-frame SUV that was actually a badge-engineered Isuzu Rodeo. Honda phased it out after the 2002 model year, but has now chosen to revitalize the name. While the all-new 2019 Passport won’t be quite the adventure-ready trailblazer it once was, it will be a reworked Honda Pilot with some decent off-road capability.

The Passport rides on the same Honda Global Light Truck platform as the current Pilot and Ridgeline. It will seat five people in two rows and offer class-leading interior volume. To top it off, the all-new Honda midsize SUV will be made in America. In fact, production has already started in Alabama, and the first deliveries are planned for early 2019.
