2016 Infiniti QX60 vs. 2016 Lexus RX 350

Which Should You Buy?

The Infiniti QX60 and the Lexus RX 350 are two mainstays among popular midsize luxury SUVs. That doesn't mean that they appeal to the same buyers though.

The most meaningful difference is that the Infiniti QX60 has a third-row seat big enough for three adult passengers. The five-passenger Lexus RX 350 gets points deducted for no third-row, but has one of the most luxurious interiors in the class.

The RX has been the most popular luxury SUV since the RX 300 debuted in 1998. It pioneered the use of touch-screen infotainment systems, full-time all-wheel drive, and car-based SUVs. The completely redesigned 2016 model was a finalist for both the Best Luxury 2-Row SUV for the Money and Best Luxury 2-Row SUV for Families awards. Bested by the even newer Tesla Model X and Audi Q7, as well as two versions of the Porsche Cayenne, it ranked only fifth among luxury midsize SUVs.

By comparison, the Infiniti QX60 was a late comer to the luxury SUV market, making its debut in 2012 as the JX 35. After Infiniti created the QX nomenclature in 2013, the former JX became the QX60. Despite having more room inside and a third-row seat, the QX60 doesn't fare as well in our rankings. It ranks only No. 18 among luxury midsize SUVs. Still, it's not without its merits for some buyers.
