2015 GMC Sierra 1500 Interior Review

Note: This interior review was created when the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 was new.

Interior: 8.6

Test drivers report the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500's cabin is very quiet, has an attractive design and is built with high-quality materials. Some note that the top Denali trim is especially luxurious. The Sierra's front seats are spacious and comfortable and the IntelliLink infotainment system is easy to use and doesn’t require you to take your eyes far off the road, reviewers say.

  • "The GMC Sierra stacks up well against class rivals, and-like its Chevrolet Silverado sibling-offers strong, refined engines, good on-road behavior, plenty of handy in-cabin storage, and an impressively quiet driving environment; top-line models such as the Denali add a healthy dose of luxury to the mix." -- Consumer Guide
  • "It is true that the basic Sierra work truck isn't all that plush, but move up the line to the Denali model and you'll find more leather and chrome than in a Texas rodeo gift shop." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "A number of key revisions ensure that the cabin is sufficiently quiet for even whispered voice commands." -- Left Lane News
  • "In addition to being quiet, the new cabin is a pretty nice place to stay. The new dash looks properly modern but retains solid, simple ergonomics and big, easy-to-use buttons." -- Motor Trend (2014)

Regular Cab GMC Sierra models seat three and Double and Crew Cab models can seat up to six. The Crew Cab offers more rear-seat space than the Double Cab model. The base trim comes with either cloth or vinyl upholstery, and leather upholstery, front bucket seats, a heated steering wheel, power-adjustable pedals and heated and cooled front seats are available. According to auto journalists, the 2015 Sierra's front seats are spacious and comfortable, and it is easy to find the right driving position. They add that the Sierra's cabin is very quiet at speed.

  • "As should be expected in a big truck, the front seats are massive." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "Finally, the seats are wide and soft, perfect for a long drive out to the campground, and surround you with plenty of room to stretch out, especially in the rear." -- Motor Trend (2014)
  • "The seats were comfortable, with a multitude of controls that allow a wide variety of human frames to find their optimal driving position. Acoustically, and this was something we repeated to ourselves several times during our many stints behind the wheel, the Sierra seemed as quiet as a late-model luxury sedan." -- Autoblog (2014)

Interior Features

  • "One major plus is its center-mounted, 8-inch LCD screen, which is positioned perfectly so you don't have to take your eyes far off the road to use it. The same is true of the LCD screen that's mounted in the gauge cluster." -- AutoTrader
  • "The GMC MyLink touch-screen infotainment system is user-friendly, changes pages fairly quickly, and features redundant controls for those who want buttons, though it's missing a hard button to take you directly to the nav screen." -- Motor Trend (2014)
  • "We were equally impressed by its five (5!) USB inputs and an AC outlet that can keep a bounty of devices juiced and ready to play." -- Kelley Blue Book (2014)
  • "On the subject of cabin likes and dislikes, we praised the bank of USB, cigarette lighter and household outlets at the bottom of the console and the array of gauges on the dashboard that allowed us to monitor just about everything mechanical." -- Autoblog (2014)

All 2015 Sierra models are available with a 6-foot-6-inch bed. Regular Cab models are also available with an 8-foot bed, and Crew Cab models are also available with a 5-foot-8-inch bed. Reviewers note that the step integrated into the corner of the rear bumper makes the bed more accessible, and they note that the folding rear seats in Double and Crew Cab models add cargo-carrying capability to the cab.

  • "Steps mounted in the rear bumper along with reworked stake holes make it easy to climb into the bed, while an easy open/close option allows the tailgate to be accessed using just a pair of fingers." -- Left Lane News
  • "Flip-up rear seats offer more cargo versatility." -- Kelley Blue Book (2014)
