2010 GMC Sierra 1500 Overview

Reviewers said the 2010 Sierra 1500 is a well-rounded truck, with a comfortable, refined ride and enough power for nearly any task. Few reviewers tested the base V6 and smallest 4.8-liter V8 engines, but those who did said they’ve got enough power for work truck applications, though a few said the base engine needs more power. Most, however, preferred the two larger available V8 engines, saying they make the Sierra feel light on its feet. In fact, a Sierra with the 5.3-liter V8 gets better fuel economy than the V6 model at 15/21 mpg city/highway, versus 15/20 mpg with the V6. These ratings are typical for the class. The Sierra can tow up to 10,700 pounds when equipped with the 6.2-liter V8.

Reviewers liked the Sierra’s cab, and said it has good fit and finish. A regular cab model can seat three people, while extended and crew cab models seat up to six. Reviewers generally thought the front seats are comfortable and supportive. Most reviewers agreed that the extended cab’s back seats aren’t as spacious or comfortable as those in the crew cab, but said that adults will be fine back there for short trips. Like most full-size pickups, the base trim has few notable standard features. Features available on upper trims and in option packages included Bluetooth, a USB port, a Bose stereo with a CD changer, navigation, leather seats, front heated and ventilated power-adjustable seats, a heated steering wheel, a backup camera, a power sunroof and back-seat entertainment system.

Other Trucks to Consider

If you like the Sierra, you should also consider the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The two are mechanically identical, and share the same engines and refined ride that reviewers liked.

The 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 is highly-rated for its comfortable ride that critics said is one of the best in the class, as well as its opulent interior. The Ram 1500 also was also available with RamBox lockable storage compartments in the bed sidewalls, which reviewers liked.
