Buying Advice

Last Updated: February 21, 2019

Falling Demand: The sales-leading Toyota Tacoma outsold the Canyon more than 7 to 1 last year. That said, dealerships moved 4.3 percent more Canyons in 2018 than during  2017. However, sales have dropped 28.6 percent in 2019 relative to the same span last year.

Competitive Base Prices: The Canyon’s base-model with an automatic transmission costs $22,200 and is $2,150 below the average in the compact pickup truck class. The top-tier model is priced above most fully-loaded rivals at $44,200.

Time to Buy: With low demand for the segment, prospective buyers may  be able to bargain for a lower price. If you’re looking to spend less, take a look at the higher ranked Chevy Colorado, which starts almost $1,000 below the Canyon. Check out this month’s GMC deals and Chevy deals for further savings.
