2010 GMC Canyon Overview

When it was new, reviewers didn’t have many gripes with the 2010 GMC Canyon’s performance. They said the ride is comfortable over uneven pavement, and were generally pleased with its engine choices. A four-cylinder engine, which reviewers found adequate, is standard, while available five-cylinder and V8 engines offer more power. Reviewers liked the Canyon’s range of engines, especially the V8, which they said feels powerful and refined. A manual transmission is standard on four-cylinder models, while an automatic comes with five- and eight-cylinder models. A two-wheel drive Canyon with the four-cylinder engine and an automatic transmission achieves 18/25 mpg city/highway, which is comparable to other four-cylinder trucks in the class. The Canyon can tow up to 6,000 pounds when properly equipped, which is a bit less than what rivals like the Toyota Tacoma can tow.

A regular cab Canyon can seat up to three people, while extended and crew cab models seat up to five and six people, respectively. While some reviewers found the front seats comfortable, others thought that the seats aren’t supportive enough. Some test drivers also said that the crew cab’s rear seats are a little short on legroom, and that the extended cab’s rear jump seats only offer enough legroom for kids. When it was new, the Canyon came standard with features like cruise control and satellite radio. Available features include power windows, door locks and mirrors, keyless entry, front bucket seats, power-adjustable heated front seats, a CD changer and leather upholstery.

Other Trucks to Consider

The 2010 Toyota Tacoma was generally preferred by reviewers, thanks to its refined interior and powerful engine choices. The Tacoma also stands out with one of the best safety scores in the class.

Excellent off-roading ability makes the 2010 Nissan Frontier an appealing choice among used trucks, and reviewers loved its smooth, available V6 and refined interior.
