2017 Genesis G90 Overview

Is the 2017 Genesis G90 a Good Used Car?

The 2017 Genesis G90 is an outstanding value and a great luxury large car. It comes with a wealth of advanced technology, including just about every driver assistance feature on the market. The cabin features exceptionally comfortable seats and plenty of space in both rows. The dazzling array of technology in the G90 is intuitive and easy to use, from the large infotainment screen to the head-up display. On the downside, the G90 has a below-average trunk size and subpar fuel economy. However, the standard V6 and available V8 engines provide ample power for passing, merging, and climbing hills. With its standard adaptive suspension, the G90 has a buttery-smooth ride while maintaining fairly good agility for a car of its size. Overall, the G90 is a solid pick in its class.

2017 Genesis G90 Versus the Competition

Which Is Better: 2017 Genesis G90 or 2017 Cadillac CT6?

We named the 2017 Cadillac CT6 our Best Luxury Large Car for Families. Its powerful yet fuel-efficient base engine is complemented by its excellent cornering ability. The CT6 also boasts a stylish cabin with plenty of space and a good assortment of features, including standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as available massaging front seats. If you have a penchant for aggressive driving, this is the car to choose. However, the G90 is the better value. Though its average listing price is about $1,000 higher than the CT6’s, it comes with significantly more features, including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic pre-collision braking, a sunroof, navigation, and an adaptive suspension. That said, the CT6 offers these features as options.

Which Is Better: 2017 Genesis G90 or 2017 Lincoln Continental?

The 2017 Lincoln Continental ranks among the best luxury large cars on our site. Like the G90, it offers powerful engines and a high-end interior with outstanding seating comfort. It’s a comfortable cruiser, but it’s not quite as agile as the G90. The Continental is one of the G90’s closest rivals, and it typically costs significantly less. In the end, both cars provide a lot for their respective prices, so choosing between the two comes down to your budget and the features you require.

2017 Genesis G90 Performance

How Does the 2017 Genesis G90 Drive?

The Genesis G90 comes standard with a 365-horsepower twin-turbocharged V6 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. With its authoritative engine power, the G90 moves effortlessly past slower traffic on the highway. Unlike some turbocharged engines, the G90’s V6 doesn’t suffer from turbo lag when pulling away from a stop. An available 420-horsepower V8 provides plenty of muscle, but most drivers won’t notice a significant difference in power between these engines.

An adaptive suspension comes standard, and it helps the G90 deliver a silky smooth ride by filtering out rough surfaces and uneven pavement. The G90’s handling is fairly agile for a car of its size, and the steering feels somewhat heavy but offers decent feedback. Rear-wheel drive comes standard, and all-wheel drive is available.

To make things more interesting, there are five driving modes: Normal, Eco, Smart, Sport, and Individual. Eco mode returns the best fuel economy; Smart mode adjusts to your driving style in real time; and Sport mode firms up the suspension for sharper handling when cornering. If you'd rather have a more advanced setup, Individual mode allows you to customize your ride and handling using several menus.

Does the 2017 Genesis G90 Get Good Gas Mileage?

With either rear- or all-wheel drive, the V6-powered G90 returns an EPA-estimated 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. Those are below-average estimates for the class.
