What Does Genesis' Certified Pre-Owned Warranty Cover?

Genesis' certified pre-owned program applies to vehicles that are less than three-years old and have fewer than 60,000 miles. As with the related Hyundai brand, Genesis offers the remainder of a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty on its certified models. Qualifying vehicles also receive the balance of a six-year/75,000-mile limited new-car warranty, which is good from the vehicle’s original in-service date. Genesis CPO models must pass a 191-point inspection. For more information, read the Genesis CPO page.

Genesis’ CPO program isn't as good as what some other luxury-car makers offer, such as Lexus or Volvo. However, it's right in line with what you’ll find with mainstream brands like Kia and Buick.

2019 Genesis G70 Versus the Competition

Which Is Better: 2019 Genesis G70 or 2019 BMW 3 Series?

The 2019 BMW 3 Series is one of the few competitors that performs as well as, or even better than, the G70. The 3 Series is available with one of six powerful engines. It has excellent cornering ability and maintains stability through razor-sharp turns. This BMW also provides a fairly comfortable ride. When comparing base engines, the 3 Series gets better fuel economy estimates than the G70. While the BMW may be the superior handler, the Genesis offers about as much driving appeal but at a fraction of the cost. These are both good cars, but the G70's perfect safety and predicted reliability ratings help give it the edge in our luxury small car rankings.

Which Is Better: 2019 Genesis G70 or 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class?

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is available as a five-seat sedan, a four-door coupe, and a convertible. The C-Class and the G70 have a similar set of standard features, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well lots of driver assistance tech. The C-Class has three available engines with higher horsepower ratings than either of the G70’s, and the Mercedes' base engine gets better fuel economy than the Genesis'. Additionally, you get a little more trunk space with the C-Class. Still, the Mercedes has one of the lowest predicted reliability ratings in the class, and it’s typically priced several thousand dollars higher than the Genesis. The G70 is not only the better car, but it’s the better value as well.

The available engine offers a significant boost in horsepower, helping the sedan reach 60 mph in a snappy 4.5 seconds. There are five drive mode settings to choose from (Sport, Comfort, Eco, Smart, and Custom) to tailor your driving experience. The G70 has great handling, thanks to its quick steering and powerful brakes. Its taut suspension aids in its maneuverability but creates a somewhat firm ride.

  • Base engine: 252-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder
  • Available engine: 365-horsepower turbocharged 3.3-liter four-cylinder
  • Drivetrain: standard rear-wheel drive; available all-wheel drive
