2011 Ford Taurus Overview

When it was new, reviewers liked the 2011 Ford Taurus for its stylish design, long list of standard features and smooth ride. The Taurus also gets pretty good fuel economy for the class. In terms of handling, reviewers found that the Taurus was fairly balanced, but some thought that the steering lacked feel. The base Taurus comes with a 3.5-liter V6 and front-wheel drive, though all-wheel drive is available for extra assurance during harsh weather.

Test drivers compared higher trim levels with luxury sedans, thanks to the Taurus’ appealing interior design and quality materials. In terms of seating, auto critics were especially impressed with the available multi-contour front seats, which change shape to increase comfort.

The Taurus has plenty of standard features, which include cloth seats, a power driver seat, a six-speaker CD stereo with an auxiliary input jack and steering wheel audio controls. Available features include Ford’s Sync infotainment system, a Sony stereo, satellite radio, leather seats and a rearview camera. In addition, reviewers said trunk space and rear-seat legroom are ample inside the Taurus.

Other Cars to Consider

If you’re considering the Taurus, the 2011 Buick LaCrosse shares many of the same attributes. The base LaCrosse isn’t as powerful as the Taurus, but the Buick’s available V6 offers more horsepower. Both cars have high safety scores.

The 2010 Toyota Avalon should be on your list because of its smooth, comfortable ride and its luxurious interior. The Avalon also has good fuel economy. Both cars have solid safety scores and are adequate performers, but if cargo space is a priority, the Taurus leads the pack. Still, the Avalon’s luxurious interior is a strong selling point for those in need of a quiet cabin.
