2010 Ford Taurus Review

Thanks to its solid safety scores and competent performance, the highly-ranked 2010 Ford Taurus is a good choice among used large cars.

Pros & Cons

  • Attractive cabin design
  • Great safety scores
  • Smooth ride
  • Lacks steering feel
  • Some cheap interior materials

2010 Ford Taurus Overview

When it was new, reviewers found a lot to like about the completely redesigned 2010 Taurus. They liked its well-rounded performance, including the standard V6 engine that provided a competitive amount of power. In terms of handling, reviewers felt the Taurus handled relatively well for a large car. Still, some test drivers thought the steering lacked feel. The available all-wheel drive Taurus is ideal for drivers who deal with perilous weather.

Inside, Ford revised the Taurus with comfort and room in mind. When it was new, reviewers liked the Taurus’ interior, especially in higher trims that offer luxurious features. If you’re seeking a large car with an abundance of cargo space, the Taurus is the right choice. With more than 20 cubic feet of trunk space and a 60/40 split-rear seat that folds flat, the Taurus should meet most of your storage needs. Seats in the Taurus are comfortable, but reviewers particularly liked the Multi-Contour front seats available in higher trims, which provide all-day comfort. Rear-seat legroom is also plentiful and the Taurus can comfortably seat three adults in the back.

In terms of standard features, the Taurus offers cloth seats, a six-way power driver seat, steering wheel audio controls and a six-speaker audio system with an auxiliary jack. Stepping up to higher trims will get you Ford’s Sync infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, leather seats, keyless ignition and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Additional available features include a power sunroof, navigation, a backup camera and a 12-speaker Sony stereo.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2010 Toyota Avalon should be on your list if you are seeking a refined large car with excellent safety scores and good fuel economy. Higher trim levels feature an interior that’s comparable to entry-level luxury cars, and the Avalon provides a smooth ride and a quiet cabin. A used Avalon can be expensive, so you may want to also consider the 2009 Avalon to save money.

Thanks to a stylish redesign for 2010, the Buick LaCrosse is worth checking out. Buick improved the LaCrosse’s cabin, making it more luxurious and competitive with other 2010 large cars. Reviewers approved, saying that the LaCrosse had a lush and inviting interior that rivaled some luxury cars. In terms of fuel economy, the LaCrosse gets slightly better ratings, but has a less powerful base engine.
