2011 Ford Mustang Overview

The 2011 Ford Mustang has a standard six-speed manual transmission and a 3.7-liter six-cylinder engine that produces up to 305 horsepower. An automatic transmission is available on select models, and the Mustang is available as either a coupe or a soft-top convertible. A 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces a maximum of 412 horsepower is also available. A 550-horsepower supercharged V8 engine is available on the Shelby GT500 model. The 2011 Ford Mustang can get a maximum of 19/31 mpg city/highway, which is good for the affordable sports car class. Automotive reviewers said that the Mustang’s base engine has a lot of power, and that it accelerates quickly with either transmission. Test drivers liked the strong V8s as well. Most reviewers were pleased with the V6-powered Mustang’s nimble handling, and noted that it’s lighter than V8 models. For the most part, they liked the suspension in the Mustang, but they also thought it could be more composed over larger bumps.

Some reviewers thought the Mustang’s interior is bland, but others liked the materials inside. Test drivers were pleased with the comfortable front seats, but they also thought the back seats are cramped. The Mustang coupe has 13.4 cubic feet of trunk space. Convertibles have the same amount of space with the top up, and 9.6 cubic feet of space with the top down. The 2011 Ford Mustang has standard keyless entry, cruise control, full power accessories, air conditioning and an audio system with a CD player. Available features include an infotainment system, power front seats, heated front seats, a navigation system, remote start, a glass roof and a back-up camera.

Other Cars to Consider

Many reviewers compared the Mustang to the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro because they both have retro styling and similar engines.

Reviewers also compared the Mustang with the 2011 Dodge Challenger, especially when equipped with its powerful Hemi V8. The Challenger is one of the few sports cars that seats five, and test drivers liked its roomy back seat.
