2010 Ford Mustang Overview

The 2010 Ford Mustang has rear-wheel drive and a standard manual transmission. An automatic transmission is available on select models. The base engine is a 4.0-liter six-cylinder that produces 210 horsepower. A 4.6-liter V8 engine that produces a maximum of 315 horsepower is available. A 540-horsepower V8 engine is available on the Shelby GT500 Mustang. Automotive reviewers had no complaints with any of the transmissions or engines. Test drivers also liked the composed ride of the Mustang. However, they said the convertible and GT models have a tendency to hop over bumps. The 2010 Ford Mustang can get a maximum of 18/26 mpg city/highway, which is typical for the class.

Automotive writers loved the interior fit and finish in the 2010 Ford Mustang. They liked the comfortable bucket seats in the front, but some said the back seat needs more legroom. The Mustang has one of the largest trunks in the class with 13.4 cubic feet of maximum cargo space. The convertible with the top down drops the trunk space to 9.6 cubic feet. The 2010 Ford Mustang has standard power locks, power windows, four-way manual driver’s seat, a CD player with an audio input jack and air conditioning. Additional features include ambient lighting, satellite radio, an infotainment system, leather seats, a navigation system, heated front seats, a glass roof and reverse camera system.

Other Cars to Consider

Like the Mustang, the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro has retro styling and a performance model, the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS. Test drivers liked the base engine of the Camaro. With an automatic transmission, the base Camaro delivers better fuel economy ratings than the Mustang.

The 2010 Dodge Challenger offers a more adult-friendly back seat, according to most reviewers. Reviewers liked the straight-line performance of the Challenger. Like the Mustang and Camaro, the Challenger has retro styling throughout the interior and exterior.
